Has anyone ever journeyed past Westvleteren and have gone to Struise? If I remember correctly all the roads seemed friendly to bikes.
Extremely bike friendly. There is an actual bike lane pretty much the entire way. I would say you'd be crazy not to go to Struise if you already took the time to go the Westvleteren. The only difficult part is biking back with 20kg of extra bottle weight
Thanks, I was fortune enough to be taken there by Beer Ambassador Thijs, but I wasn't sure what area we hit some traffic. Looking back it was probably more around Gent and Dranken Geers. I'd probably go to Struise first, and maybe stop at Westvleteren last.
Always welcome on the continent Mark! The bikeride is very easy indeed. Some day i hope to bike it myself ans stay at the B and B of Bernardus afterwards. Thijs
My wife and I did that bike trip when we were there this past May. Pretty easy and not dangerous at all. I'm a terrible rider too.
That rings true. Prior to this weekend I'd been to Belgium maybe a dozen times but always on the train (and with the occasional bus trip to the likes of Westmalle) but it was great to be in the car and hit some new spots!
