Coming in for business this afternoon, and was planning to hit up either Slice or On Tap Lakeview for dinner tonight. Any other spots I should add to my list for good food and good beer?

Follow-up question. I have a rental car so driving is an option, but if I'm imbibing, I'd rather not. Is the south side area fairly safe, or would I be better off limiting my intake and driving myself from my hotel to these places?

both Slice and On Tap have decent to good selections. You may want to budget for a cab to/from your hotel anyway, there's a lot of local beers you may want to sample :grinning:

Is this your way of commenting on the safety of walking it? It's less than 20 min from my hotel by foot, but if it's an issue, I have no problem getting there by other means. And do you have any other suggestions for beer places that are closer to UAB hospital?

Not commenting on safety - it's about as safe as any other place that's part of a large metro area. 20 mins is an easy walk and may help you sober up a little on the way.

Unfortunately the J Clyde is closed on Sundays, otherwise I'd direct you there. If you're around tomorrow get to the Clyde (www.jclyde.com)

    Thanks for all the advice.

On Tap wasn't too shabby this evening. Are the Saints counted as your hometown team? I had forgotten the HoF game was on tonight, but that was kind of fun with all the Saints fans around. The beer was pretty solid too. Crossed off Southern Pecan from my wish list, and the Saison from Avondale was a pretty good one as well. I'm thinking J Clyde's might be on tap for Tuesday evening.
