Will be visiting Boston in a few weeks ( from Long Island) any suggestions on good beer /restaurants (seafood /steak) to check out and bottle shops to bring home some gifts for myself ?
    Cheers LOL

Do you know where you are staying in Boston or if you have access to transportation? Might help with suggestions.

You'll be walking distance from Stoddard's which typically has a pretty damn good tap list and a cool atmosphere. Food's decent too. JM Curley's across the street makes a great burger and has decent beers if you're looking for a relatively cheap and easy dinner somewhere.

You're a quick cab ride (or long walk) to Kenmore Square too which has Island Creek Oyster if you want seafood, Hawthorne if you want a great cocktail, and Eastern Standard if you want a mix of the two with some more meat mixed in. All three are right next to each other. The Boston Beer Works there is maybe worth a trip if you want some decent pub food and some generally good beer with a couple standouts. Oh, and the Lower Depths has a decent tap list and cheap eats too (good 1$ hot dogs).

Make sure you go to the bar at the Omni Parker House and order some sort of classic, old school, cocktail while snacking on their free, hot, mixed nut bowls

Best seafood/beer combo in the city is Row 34 (current taplist). Conveniently right across the street from Trillium in Fort Point. It's just under a mile from your hotel, but an easy walk. Maybe Uber back after food and with your bottles. Trillium is open until 6pm on Saturdays. Make a reservation for Row 34 if you can (call don't use open table).

2nd Stoddards. Have really enjoyed both food and beer each time I've been.

Check out the Boston itinerary thread at the bottom of the NE page, lots of your questions answered in there. You can also walk to Trillium from there in 15 mins or so, worth heading there for sure.

@Horbar this must be where Nate's salty, free nuts have gone. (Sorry to bring it full circle from the TH thread.)

Tip Tap Room. Short walk from your hotel, great tap list and wild game specials.

I second Row 34 for seafood and great beer. Hit Trillium and Fort Point Market beforehand. Highball Lounge is a fun cocktail bar with some good beer next to your hotel. Gingerman is great and is a short walk. You are two stops on the Red Line from Cambridge Brewing Company and other great spots in Kendall Square. Good stores near your hotel are Gordon's and Boston Wine Exchange.

Side question (because its not all about beer in Boston apparently!) - If you could choose one meal would you go to dinner at B&G Oysters or Giulia? I already I'm slated to go to Row 34 the night before. We only have 2 nights available to us with Red Sox Yankees the 3rd night we are there.

I liked Row34 over island creek for both food and beer on tap by a mile.

I enjoyed Giulia more than B&G, and that's before getting into the menu overlap between Row 34 and B&G, so I'd probably go there. Could hit up Aeronaut for beer or Harvard Square for not-beer (or there's beer here, too) after.

Ohh and if you are going across the river to Cambridge check out taplist at Lord Hobo, Bukowski Tavern and Naco taco for street tacos.

You're super close to JM Curley's. They're awesome. Get the fried chicken.

The plan now is to be in the area for the day so I will check out Cambridge Brewing and some others during the day. The meal did not necessarily have to be beer centric. Thank you for the tip!

Another food idea for you - Townsman. Edge of Chinatown near South Station.

    Loved Townsman.
Some other Cambridge-centric options: Alden & Harlow, Puritan & Co., Kirkland Tap & Trotter. All awesome.

Yeah, I read some things on Townsman. Maybe I could check it out for lunch one day.
