Curious to see what upcoming brewery will fill the void in industrial way and what the future is for Thompson point. Portland is getting even better to visit.

well, they do say that their current space is needed for "others to expand"...could be a great move all the way around...

This had been rumored for a while now, I'm glad to hear it's actually going to happen. Thompsons Point is home to the city's brand new ice rink and Bissell is one of the sponsors (and I think they sell BB beer at the warming hut). Here is a link - scroll down for a couple of overhead shots of the area

I will miss being able to do Bissell/Foundation/Austin St. & Allagash in one fell swoop, but good for them. Guess I'll just have to tough it out and make the most of the second stop at Oxbow, Novare, King's Head, etc.

Industrial way is basically an incubator. MBC moved out, now Bissell and Foundation will next. I wouldn't be surprised if Austin St moved to the front spot for more visibility.

Bissell is smart at churning out production. They have a predefined small set of brews each week that is set early in the year and released to the public and a regular schedule for pickup. No real surprises other than if there is a shortage of hops and they have to adjust the brew schedule.

Seeing that I only go up to Portland once or twice a year, I loved being able to hit Allagash, Foundation and Bissell (never been to Austin St.) on foot. It was incredible convenient to get beer from 3 pretty different breweries.

I'll just have to make it a point to visit Thompson Point.

From a non-Mainer perspective, Thompson Point was the site of probably my favorite beer fest I've been to yet, the Maine Brewers' Guild fest last year. Really cool spot and happy for the Bissell gang for their success.

For the out-of-towners, Thompson's Point is a huge win- it literally has it's own exit off the highway, and the brewery is (at most) 2 minutes from the highway.

So it would probably be a short walk from the Amtrak/bus station? That would be good.

Congrats for them! Great access from the interstate, and easier from Old Port.

Funny as Rising Tide was there as well, however Bull Jagger, well I guess we won't talk about that.

Happy for Bissell but as a person who lives in Portland I will likely never buy their beer again at their retail, though I don't think that will be a problem for them. I respect their move and is a bold decision. (Best of all this means expansion for Foundation!) Good luck Bros!

It's been WAY too long since I've heard of a long-standing family blood-feud. This has promise.
