Anyone know if they have regular hours to check out the brewery? I know they've had a few open houses and eventually plan on selling cans/growlers from the space. There's nothing on their webpage or Facebook page about it, and I've been trying to message them over Facebook/Twitter but haven't received any info. Headed up there this weekend and would love to check the space out.
Last time I chatted with those guys the brewery hours were still pretty random (or even non-existent) outside the open houses, etc - Haven't had any luck with making a visit there when I've been in town either. I have found the guys to be pretty responsive via Twitter (though usually just RE: local bars/taps). Was up there last weekend - In Portland alone, The Substance must have been on tap at like 7-8 different places. Sounds like Maine will see it in cans in the next "few weeks". Oh, and it was on tap at Lord Hobo in Cambridge on Wednesday Night - Guessing it's gone by now, but hoping that's a good sign of things to come.
They seem to be on top of their marketing game within Portland and southern Maine. It's pretty impressive to see the amount of ground they've covered in the last 6 months without having a brewery for growlers/tastings and product in stores.
Just saw an Instagram from Bissell Bros that just said "Tour Time" - Best of luck OP, let us know how you make out.
I heard back from the guys and they are currently only giving tours to beer tour buses. Love The Substance and can't wait to get my hands on some to take home. Had Heartstrings at Novare Res as part of their beer/chocolate pairing menu as well. Decent beer, but I had also just finished drinking Fou Foune that was part of the special menu...
If you haven't seen it on FB / Instagram / Twitter, Bissells canned The Substance today. It will be released through Bier Cellar on Wednesday.
