Anyone know when the schedule after 9/9 will be released?

I had been keeping an eye on the publication of present release schedule earlier in the summer and watching on here for feedback. Think it ended up being published just a day or maybe two prior to the first release

@Manfrombelmonty is right. The release schedules are usually made public the day before, sometimes two.

Had the pleasure of visiting the brewery a few weeks ago while staying in peaks island for a week. Seriously impressed with everything I tried there, especially the cans of Reciprocal that were so easily attainable with minimal line. Nothing Gold was damn good as well.

I'm a hige Bissell fanboi but I wish they would start to expand their lineup a little more. I love their hoppy offerings but would like to see more dark offerings. Another stout and maybe a porter more than once a year would be nice

So now I know the Saturday I'm there they're only releasing Substance. How late should I expect the line to be at open and how long do you think the cans will last that day?

Honest question, did they do something to substance? I got a 4 pack and had to drain it the other day. Tasted like an entirely different beer. Or did I just get a bad batch? This was Thursday.

Same, tho I didn't drain Pour. It's not the same beer it once was and has gone through several recipe fluctuations. The recipe nowadays doesn't hold a candle to the previous batches

Interesting. I get to drink it about once a year and barely that. I definitely noticed a "thinness" to the beer this August that I remember Substance being the total opposite of. I chalked it up to not having had it in a can in a few years, and that perhaps the beer is different on tap than in can in terms of "mouthfeel" or whatever term applies.

Too bad, that was one of things I always liked about Substance, was its thick viscous nature.

Then again, upon reflection, me stating that I can remember flavor profiles from 12 months ago seems a bit ridiculous, so there's always that.

Concur. I picked some up on August 15th and did not especially enjoy it.

Exactly how I viewed The Substance Ale - hoppy, sticky, vicuous - Everything you want in an NEIPA at a perfect selling point $13/4pk - Now it's all watered down and barely hoppy. The shade of "haze" golden/yellow/orange is more copper and muddy now with fleeting taste. As it warms up in the glass it begins to taste worse. I used to buy the max limit every time but now I don't even think about it.

Bissell still makes great juicy beer such as:

    Nothing Gold
Swish (when it's not a bitter ripe bomb)
    Engram
    Big Small World
    A Study In Courage
    Mana Mana

All still serious juicebombs, but The Substance Ale (to me) is no longer apart of that Elite 6.

Want something similar to what you remember about The Substance that you can still find nearby?

    Try:

CMYK, Prime ($14) - Goodfire Brewing
    Definitive Ale ($16)- Definitive Brewing

My recent experience with Substance is very similar. I got two four packs in August. I drank one can and proceeded to give the other ones away. Really did not enjoy what I was drinking. I actually thought they might have been infected in some way. Tasted way way off to me.

I didn't have any this summer but the 9/14 can I had last night was great.

Substance is a confounding beer to me...some days it tastes like heady topper, some days it tastes like a more modern NE IPA.

I would agree with this 100%. My buddy and I had some and were blown away with how good it was. Not that it's ever been anything but great, but it's probably the highest quality Swish we've ever had.

it's so damn good i can't tell if it's the batch or the fact that I haven't had it in X amount of months!

My guess would be a combo of both -- we didn't really change the recipe at all, just some process tweaks (as are always, always the case).

I enjoy this batch quite a bit myself, should be in for a good Swish season... Thanks y'all.
