Getting a 2019 thread started as there wasn't a new one posted and I also had a few questions regarding visiting Bissell. Any help is much appreciated!

We're looking at doing a trip up to Maine potentially just us (time frame flexible) or with my in-laws for a summer vacation. Regardless I want to make it up and get my hands on some Swish, my question is if there any particular optimal time within the Oct- April window that Swish is brewed that any1 would recommend as a good time to go to get it and try some of their other offerings as well? Also does that mean its brewed through April? My wife's Birthday is toward the end of APril so could be a good reason for a trip...

I'm assuming Oct-Christmas is probably pretty busy but figured it probably slows down in winter which presents its own challenges of traveling tho. I'm assuming its probably pretty crazy at Bissell in the summer when a lot of tourists are in town and the weather is good. Also, I'm assuming weekday releases are better and less crowded and see they post their release schedule pretty far in advance which is awesome (I wish more places did this).

Any insight into logistics is much appreciated , I'm not a huge line guy so so would be great to get some local knowledge into what type of timing is good to show up (at/before open, hour after open, couple hours later etc.) to not have to wait much but also have a good chance of scoring cans and them not running out (understanding that's variable). Also do they normally have several cans available or do most of the releases tend to sell out same day or just the very coveted stuff like Swish, Nothing Gold, Reciprocal etc.? Does BB do growler fills? Thanks for any advice and insight!

I saw on f-book Swish carried over cans to today so I guess that partially answers your question. Before the new year best case I saw was 2-3pm day of, except for some mid-week releases that made it through the day.

The weather was shitty most of yesterday so I think that, plus the time of year, allowed for the remaining cases today. They don't do growler fills. Honestly, your best time to grab Swish is this time of year, weekday, when the weather isn't optimal. Their other releases don't typically sell out day of.

I was up at the swish release on sat. Opened at 11, I got there at 1230 and there was no line and tons of swish left. They have their release schedule put out at the beginning of each month so look on that to see when swish is being released. I would definitely not risk waiting to go till the day after its released, I think they only had 30 or so cases left over the next day.

Looks like Reciprocal carries over from last week. Is that the norm now? I’ll be heading up on a Sunday after a Tuesday Reciprocal release and was wondering if I could expect it to last?

Good info, thank you! We'll be in Portland the night of the 25th, which as luck would have it is a Swish day, so I'll plan to swing by there on the way into town for a few 4-packs.

The Revival Stout was pretty good but tasted too similarly to Umbra - roasted, little to no head, thin

Really hope Bissell differs their stouts more from B-Level Microbreweries

Curious how much a four-pack of Swish is?

    $18 now

$1 increase from the first handful of releases this season and since its inception.

Any thoughts on how late in the day Swish will last tomorrow? Thinking of stopping by on our way into Portland.

buddy of mine in NYC said Bissell cans were available at some bar alongside Heady and Focal (which have been in NYC a while now). Was there an event that Bissell was at or are they distro'ing cans to bars there now?

I know Bissell did a light drop of The Substance for DeCicco's (and apparently some spots in NYC as well). I wouldn't expect that to be a regular thing.

That said, Heady and Focal have been making repeat appearances in NY for a while, so maybe Bissell will end up doing the same.

I think they give you a buck off each 4-pack if you buy a case, so back to $17 each then.

So Swish is lasting into the afternoons on Saturday release days now? Haven't been to one yet this year. Am going to Portland this Saturday but wasn't going to bother since I won't be there til about 1:30. Sounds like there is hope!

I went to Swish opener and it sold out in an hour, case PP (That was October though).

I went to Allagash for coolship red, and knew Nuclear Whim was out same day and thought if the line wasn't to long i'd pop in... No line at all for Whim (which I prefer over swish) Was talking to a local and he said they have been slow there all winter. He said even Swish has been hanging around into Sundays. I think you will be fine well into the afternoon, definitely worth at least checking.

The only caveat or wild card is that it is Super Bowl weekend. People might be trying to stock up for that.

How are folks feeling on recent batches of LUX?

I haven't liked Lux quite as much since they moved to Thompson's Point. I know that's not the "recent" you're looking for, but that beer used to be one of my favorites across any style. It might have been a change in my palate, but I have found it to be sweeter and a little less "spicy" the last few years.

    Sorry for the non-answer, tho
