I'm going to be in the Portland area this Spring/Summer and I'm wondering if Bissell Brothers is regularly available at any stores in the Scarborough area. I'm also hoping to stop by the brewery and I'm wondering if they usually have cans available there? 4 Packs, Cases? Which beers?

Follow Bissell on social media. They update frequently what will be available. Also Bier Cellar in Portland is a great source for Bissell stuff. I believe Tully's in Wells gets it too

but is something usually available at the brewery or are the cans limited enough that i'll have to follow social media hoping something is available. I'm going to be up that way but only for three days, one of which I'll be at a wedding. I'm just wondering if it's something that is usually on the shelves at the brewery or at the stores that carry it, or if it's gone within a day or two of hitting the shelves and then dried up for a while.

I'm basically wondering if it's like HT or SoS is in VT where I'll have to stalk them to see when they make deliveries and get there that day just to have a chance at a 4 pack.

From what I have experienced. If you go to the brewery on a Saturday when they open. You should be able to get The Substance cans. They have increased production and Bier Cellar was selling it by the case this week. If you have 3 days it won't be impossible to track down. Plus there is some much excellent beer in Portland, BB will be one of many you'll be taking back home.

Also if you join Bier Cellars email newsletter you can reserve beer online that they will hold for you. I think like 2 days.

Was up there this past weekend. Allagash had free tastings (saisons aint my thing) and we walked over to BBB which sold cases out of the garage (not the long line) and had 8 oz for $3 and 14 oz for $4/5. Cash only though. The 7/11 nearby is cheap enuf and walking distance.

BTW, they have Uber. It's ~$20 from east end Portland each way via Uber.

Other recs - Porthole (they open and serve at 6am) and Ri Ra (small chain but serve food and small local brews) and of course Novare Res (top 10 bars I've been to in my life)

Anyone know if swish is going to be available on the 11th? Going to be in the area for the Dinner release and would love to round out the birthday beer run with some swish.

Don't think they've said yet, but judging by the schedule posted earlier in this thread, it looks like that will be an off week for Swish. Bummer, as I was thinking about doing the same thing.

Unfortunately, I doubt it. This Saturday is the 2nd to last Swish day of the season per their Twitter. I'm in the same boat, possibly going to be up in the area that weekend and would love to stumble upon some Swish. Love that beer!

Based on the schedule, which only goes up to April 4th, Swish seems to come out every two weeks. So, if April is the 2nd to last Swish day of the season, it seems April 18th would be the last day.

Per there Facebook post this morning the 18th is the last Swish release of this season.

Do they have a limit at the brewery on cans? I was thinking of making a trip but only if I can get at least a few 4 packs of Substance and Swish.

Skimmer their Twitter and found someone who visited on March 7th when The Substance and Swish were available. Said he walked away with a case of each. Not sure if that's a combined haul with a sig other, but I couldn't find pp limits anywhere. So it may be a case of each/whatever beer is on per person.

Sounds like they've really ramped up production. When i was out in Portland in September, it was just 2 four pack limit on Substance.

Portland is a great city..East End area makes for a fun afternoon between Rising Tide, Bunker, Urban Farm Fermentory, Maine Craft Distillery.

You're welcome. Further confirmation that I got from BBB: "The limit is one case per person per brand per day."
