Looking for a nice summer session beer that is not a wheat beer. So far these seem to be the two that are easy to get and have decent reviews. What do you guys think?
I prefer easy rider, but do not think it is easy to get...disappeared in one week around here in NJ. Bitter american is much easier to find, and I enjoy it quite a bit.
I'd take Bitter American, if only for the better value it offers. Easy Rider is just mispackaged and mispriced, IMO. However, I'd personally go with the aforementioned Victory Summer Love over the other two. That stuff is delicious!
Are you planning on buying it by the case? If not, then you can't go wrong with anything mentioned so far- get some sixers of each and mix it up a bit. If I were going to get a case, myself, I'd also be the Summer Love camp though.
Sierra Nevada Summerfest (5% Czech Pils), Narragansett Summer would be my pick (4.2% tall boys, blonde ale), Troegs Sunshine Pils (4.5% German Pils), Baxter Celsius (4.7% spiced ale). This is just off the top of my head.
I've had Bitter American and I like to keep it around. Great taste for a low ABV beer. I haven't had Easy Rider but will look for it after reading the reviews. It's summer and it's hot, get them both and see which one hits your palate best. I also like Saranac Pale Ale (English style pale ale) but it is slightly higher in ABV (5.5%).
I've been drinking a lot of Bitter American. It's got a lot of flavor, low alcohol and is very refreshing. I can usually find it for $7.99 a six pack, and the fact that it's in cans means I can take it a lot of places.
