I just need help with what categories these two beers will fall under.

a stout - o.g. around 1.065 with bourbon vanilla and oak.
a saison with brett reclaimed from Boulevard Saison Brett

I might enter them into a competition and want to make sure they are in the right category. Thanks.

I would say these are your best options. Be as specific as possible with the special ingredients.

    22C - Wood-Aged Beer
    16E - Belgian Specialty

I agree with sarcastro though the stout could also potentially be in Category 23.

    Sarcastro is correct.

I've had a lot of friends lose points in the oaked style because their beers DIDN'T reak of oak. Just a heads up.

I'm jumping on to this thread too. I have a saison that I brewed with elderflower and agave. The elderflower taste is strong and the agave I used more for the sugar not for taste. I don't know what to enter it in 16c, 16e, 21a, or 23?

If the elderflower compliments the saison attributes, I would enter it in 21A. If the elderflower overpowers the saison attributes, I would enter it in 23.

I think 21A works though I'd put it in 16E. I know the 21A guidelines in regards to Belgians says "MAY be...16E" unlike Fruit beer which uses the words "SHOULD be...16E"...not sure if there is supposed to be a real distinction between the two in this regard. There don't appear to be any Belgians in the Commercial Examples of 21A.
Jefeipa: If the elderflower truly overpowers everything I don't think it will fair that well anywhere, FWIW. I don't know the flavor but it it is an interesting spicy or floral flavor that melds well with the existing esters, phenols, and hops of the saison without screwing up the color, it could work as a 16C too.

    cheers--
