Greetings. I was wondering about how hard it is to acquire Black Albert in a trade? I'm fortunate to have a KABERT and a KTG '12 ... looking to complete the last part of this by having a Black Albert to complete a cool tasting at some point.

I have few whales, and I'm not excited to give any of them up. Would, say, some semi-regular Lawson's and/or Hill Farmstead beers get this done?

In quick scanning, I don't see many mentions of Black Albert in the ISO:FT forum. Any input would be great, cheers!

One of my old beer stores from before I moved had it on the shelves for the better part of a year. Not sure if this is the rule or the exception but I have seen a good amount of it. My current stores have 0 bottles as another frame of reference.

It should be easy to get...unless you want batch 0.

I think you'll land one, with relative ease. I recommend specifying Batch "0" (based on the original recipe, i.e. it's Cuvée Delphine's base beer, and, I'd imagine what's in Kabert [pre-port???])

Also, not to get too nerdy, but, Portsmouth's Kate is gonna be pretty different from the Kate brewed at Struise for Kabert/Special Kay.

I appreciate the feedback and the messages, it looks like Black Albert is out there. I really appreciate the amazing generosity of fellow BAs too, I'm just saying!

    Cheers!

Super easy to purchase online. Even Batch 0 has been on the Struise shop for a while. It also makes it to US shelves occasionally - there was a big load of it floating around about a year ago. I'd imagine the next batch will see its way here as well.

Honestly, you should be able to easily land this with a 4-pack of Heady Topper or a growler of whatever is on at the moment at HF.

Kabert is definitely more Black Albert than Kate the Great.

Sorry - misunderstood your comment but I was basically agreeing with you. i.e. Kabert ends up tasting much closer to Black Albert than Kate the Great.

I recently traded a 6 pack of MBC Lunch for Black Albert and Cuvee Delphine. I sent a message to Ebenezer's Pub (originally brewed just for them) asking them about BA and they said let them know when you go and they may have it/get it. Only about 2.5 hrs from you.

I grabbed a bottle of this off the shelf at a brew pub in NOLA a few months ago. I wasn't aware that it was particularly rare, but it's really really good.

Thanks everyone for their offers...a generous BA has offered to send my a Black Albert Batch 0 for nothing! So, I'm all set for now.

The goodwill of people on this site never ceases to amaze me. Beer people are good people.

To continue on my original post, I'll now have a KtG '12, KABERT, and Black Albert Batch 0. These three beers are destined to be opened the week of my brother's wedding in September. This will be a ton of fun to taste all three of these together, I can't wait!

Thanks to everyone, and especially thanks to gklover1 for his INCREDIBLE generosity, he's a true all-star trader.
