Why have I not tried this beer before today!? Because I've never noticed it at the store. At $2 a 500mL for a roasts toasty but highly drinkable 9.4% porter, you cant go wrong. I picked up one to drink tonight, and one to lay down. The gent at the beer shop told me I'd be buying more - Tuesday I'm going to check the price for a case and keep this in permanent rotation. Just wondering if people have found a sweet spot with age on this one. I think 6 - 18 months is the range I'm looking in to just smooth it out the smallest bit. I'm impressed.

$2?! Where you buying that? It's a good $4.50 round these parts. You got yourself a sweet deal from my standpoint. I've never thought to age it, as porters aren't usually my thing aged, but this one might have the balls to do so. Good call, and report back to let us know the prospects.

its $2 here too. not a bad porter for the money but there is somethibg in there that keeps me from coming back to it more often. it kind of has a doughy taste or something, hard to describe. but at that price and size it beats out everything else in the range. havnt cellered it but let us know how it goes.

I have had cellared versions of this beer. A lot of roast qualities die down a bit and it gets a bit more malty. I am all for the experimentation (especially @ $2), but I would rather have this one fresh. When I sold beer however, I would bring 4-5 cases to a small store every week and it would be sold out within days. A great, cheap beer.

(This was one of my first cellared experiment, my changes have evolved since then. So it may be better than I remember.)
