I too am waiting for the best after date.

I've had it on tap alongside Smoking Wood and thought BB XXIV was better.

Call me blasphemous, but I actually look forward to this beer's release so much more than The Abyss.

The two are pretty damn close. I think if pressed, I'd have to take abyss, but that's the whole reason I started this thread: why do we think this beer has not succumbed to the unbelievable hype machine that its movie star big brother abyss has??

In hindsight, we all should probably stfu if we wanna keep it this way...,.

never unnecessary to stock up on a beer that good. should hold up with time too.

re: why isn't there more buzz about it... eh, it's available in a place where good beer has been the norm for longer than in the rest of the country, and they make a lot of bottles of it. why isn't there more buzz about duvel?

Easy, the recipe changes every year. There's no guarantee they'll be good, though they've all been great. More importantly, it is made in far greater amounts. Stores here in SoCal got cases on cases of the stuff, where most stores get at best 1-2 cases of Abyss.
