    Hey all,

Missed the boat on the Black Butte XXV release, but was wondering if anyone knew if any place that still has it in CO? Preferably South Denver area if possible. Thanks!

I know XXV just hit the Fort Collins shelves this past week. And last years XXIV stuck around on the local shelves for a long time. I'd be floored if you can't just go to your local stops and find some.

Check Wallaby's and Grapevine. Grapevine still had XXIV as of fairly recently.

I got mine at Luka's last week. I thought I saw some on the shelves about 5 days ago....could be mistaken.

In my cellar. Thinking about trying it next week if I can bring myself to drink a heavy porter in the middle of July. Will report back if I do open it up.

It tasted just like last year's to me, or at least close to it. It's definitely good stuff.

Yes...terrible this year IMO. Really bummed...normally I love this. I have another one to put down in the cellar next to XXIII and XXIV. We'll see how it goes...

I didn't love the way XXIV turned out at its Best After date this year, but I was hoping the partial barrel-aged blend of the new one would solve some of its problems, which were mostly a thin body and boring flavor. It was much better fresh. I don't think the time did it any favors.

What was so wrong with XXV?

Hard to put my finger on it precisely, but it was just kind of a mess... It's as described with the currants and chocolate and vanilla and oak and... Just was all over the place -- didn't blend well and kind of boozy to boot (IMO). I followed it by drinking the Wootstout (with my wife and friend!) and didn't like that either (thought they actually kind of tasted similar)...maybe I was just in a bad mood.

I've always liked the BB series (fresh and after the "drink after" date), so we'll see if time helps bring this one together...

Davidson's had it yesterday, but you have to ask for it.
