26th a joke thin sour, tastes infected real stank ,worst batch yet
Disagree but everyone has an opinion; I just disagree with yours but I'm sure there's plenty that I might think are great that you'd think are mediocre and/or terrible. It's just beer; drink what ya like.
Yeah, had Not the Stoic on draft and thought it was pretty damn solid. Gave it around a 90 score. Next day saw the bottle in the store for $17. It's good, but it's not that good.
I think it's top notch...I've heard it taste like bramble
Anyone know if this hit western PA at all?
Over taxed, my dad drives to NJ to buy his beer.
I do as well, occasionally. Often different selection, too.
Nj distro is fantastic, he goes twice a month only a 10 minute drive.
All you gotta do is ask...
Deschutes XXVI, Not the Stoic, and Mirror Mirror are crowding shelves in St. Louis. I'm wondering if it will move if discounted a bit, but can't imagine store owners giving it that much real estate for so long.
It is in western PA now.
The Fridge in Lancaster, PA is tapping this on Saturday for their 3rd anniversary celebration.
The full list:
- Avery Tweak ("Meph Addict")
- Bell's The Oracle
- Brouwerij Bockor Cuvee des Jacobins Rouge
- Deschutes Black Butte XXVI 26th Birthday Reserve
- Dogfish Head Punkin Ale
- Green Flash Hop Odyssey Citra Session IPA
- Free Will Chasing the Dragon
- Pizza Boy 100% Nugget IPA
- Stone Coffee Milk Stout
- Stone 18th Anniversary Golden Brown IPA
Have you seen it anywhere in particular yet?
I'm interested as to where near Pittsburgh as well.
I couldn't even finish XXVI. It was my first time trying one of these anniversary beers so maybe it was something I didn't expect, but it was wayyyyy too sweet/tart for me. It tasted more like a barleywine than an imperial porter.
Plenty of it at Wegman's around Philly. But at $20 per bottle? Pass...
Lucky... I paid $27 just outside of Philly. I guess that's what I get for driving in from NY.
Yeah, here as well. I've grabbed one of each. Too bad The Abyss isn't as easy to find as all the other special releases.
Anyone in the NE Ohio area gotten/tried this yet?
Mack's Beverage in Parma got some today. I grabbed one ($15), but haven't tried it yet. Bring on the weekend!
Nice!! I'm actually pretty close to there. Thanks dude! Hey, if you're that close we should grab a brew sometime. I live right by the Fat Head's production facility.
Cool, I'm game. Shoot me a BM and we can hit a local watering hole soon!
Ok cool man. Will do!
Just tried it in Sacramento on tap and I have to say it was delish. I can't wait to see how it evolves in a few months
Found it for $16 here in KY. Seriously debating grabbing a bottle for the cellar.
I got two bottles three weeks ago. So tempting to try one now but I must be patient.
They're good right now, just do it! Be patient with the second one.
Rozi's Wine House in Lakewood got some in last week. I picked up 2 bottles, then they ran out. Tweeted later in the week that they got more in, don't know if it's still there (probably not).
FWIW, I loved the 26. One of my favorites out of the 5 Black Butte anniversary beers I've had.
Rozis ran out twice last week. Ross's had some in and I grabbed 2 bottles, they had 24 bottles total I believe. Not sure if it's still kicking out there or not. Happy with my 2. Will have one soon, keep the other for after 5\15 as it states on bottle.
I still have a bottle of Stoic and 2 Mirror Mirrors that I need to try.
Rozi's got more in today. I'll stay content with the 2 I got and let somebody else share in the goodness. Fasnic, where did you find Not The Stoic? I never saw it anywhere around here. Also, I was a big fan of the Mirror Mirror (full disclosure: I may be a Deschutes fanboy).
There are still loads of this around the Seattle area. I was super hyped about it and picked up 3 bottles when it first came out. I cracked 1 bottle open, and it was waaaay too tart. Hopefully, the other 2 will miraculously transform into something good over time.
I've also seen Mirror Mirror and Not The Stoic still around, too (Total Wine, Full Throttle, Beer Junction, Beer Authority). They're shelf turds and the TW employees always try to push them.
Opened up the last 4 years and this one. I really love the fruit and imo is the best. Though I wouldn't say the others are bad imo just not that great. 2012 was a good year compared to the others.
Please let Abyss be this plentiful now that Deschutes is finally in Ohio
^ I heard abyss is going to clock in at 13% this year
I just had this yesterday. I liked this year's batch better than last year's.
I picked it up in Chicago back in June. I haven't seen it around here either. It's 12.1% so it probably didn't make it into Ohio. Damn laws.
My bottle of Not the Stoic says not to drink until like next April. Mirror Mirror is until next May, and the newest batch of Black Butte I've seen is next June. So going to have one of the Mirror Mirror's in a couple months and a Black Butte, take notes, and then hold them until the After Date and see how they changed.
Damn. We missed it by 0.1%. How lame is that?
Not the Stoic and Mirror Mirror are drinking nicely right now, but I think next year will do a good bit to them as well.
Readily available in south central PA. $20 seems to be the going rate here.
Ohio has a law limiting ABV for beers?
