Has anyone tried deschutes newest pub reserve Black Butte Cubed yet? I was given two bottles as a gift, and there's currently no reviews on it so I was just curious about people's thoughts
Somebody really likes you. I had a taster at the release. It's a Bourbon barrel Black Butte. Personally, I think it's got much more Bourbon presence than the XXVII - which I had a glass of right after the taster to compare.
I have had a few bottles. its fantastic. that is my review Personally, its more what I wished BB would be every year. much more bourbon flavor
You mean the BBXX-- series? Personally, I like that the bourbon isn't overpowering. I want it to complement the beer, not dominate it.
I'm glad that deschutes actually stepped up their game and finally did a 100% barrel aged beer (I believe it's actually 90% but still) no fruity tootie blends, just straight up bourbon. I hope they do it again. Maybe with the abyss??
I have yet to get them from him, but a friend of mine picked me up 3 bottles at the Portland pub on Sunday. Can't wait to try it. So, no, not gone. At least in Portland. -- Nathan
This makes me wish their decision is to locate the east coast brewery in Asheville... But, I fear it will take 10 years off my life.
I got 1 22oz bottle for $25 so it better be dam good and it sounds like it is... Has anyone tried the other beer being sold at the PDX Pub called Sour Quad ($15 for 22oz)? I can't find very much info about it but it sounds similar to Dissident...any reviews???
I like both, depending on the mood. thats why its cool to me that they did this. BB27 is more mellow with the barrel flavor, and this one is more intense. something for everyone! I too, wish they would do a 90-100% barrel aged Abyss. I think it would compliment that beer perfectly
Here's the fact sheet for the Sour Quad. Had a taster at the Brew Pub. It was quite tasty. Well worth the price tag.
I really want a bottle or two of this. If anyone can grab for me, I'll hook ya up with some Bham stuff.
At Deschutes now. They gave "plenty" of both black butte 3 and sour quad. Hostess says they haven't run out since it was released. Also on tap Dissident '15 and Dissident' 10 (the latter is $13 a snifters!)
