Is anywhere in MA doing anything for Bourbon County this year? Last year I went to Gordon's and had a good time. I haven't seen anything and I'm not sure if Goose is even making a special release out of this because of last year's infection issue.

    Thank you

I was also wondering what was going on, so I emailed Gordon's a week or two ago. Crickets.

Probably worth keeping up on social media for the big stores which might be "official release locations" like Redstone, Gordon's, Julio's, etc... and maybe they'll announce something soon.

Think Im going to pass this year. I heard that this year's batches are being pasteurized due to what happened last year.

This is true, they are pasteurizing. I'll be buying what I can find... I don't understand why people are letting one bad year stop them from buying what is historically one of the best bourbon stouts on the market. I'll give them a second chance. Hell, I lucked out this year - didn't have a bad bottle in my fridge!

I heard that this year they cut the state's allocation by 40%

Was also told by a Bud rep that ZERO cases of coffee will be coming to MA. Just regular and barley. (unless its from a Goose sponsored event at a bar or store)

If that's the case, that 0 cases of coffee are coming into MA I will probably just wait until the next day when stores usually have cases of regular still sitting around

Doesn't surprise me much. Goose Island only even survives in New England because of who owns them. They're not gonna send a lot of BCBS when their other brands sell like crap here.

I haven't seen anything about "Black Wednesday" at Stoddard's or a Black Friday event at Foundry either. I know those two places held events last year.

I imagine if there's only the Barleywine and regular, you can't really hold an event. Those two were available for quite awhile after Black Friday last year at the bars.

I had a pretty hard time finding the Barleywine last year, and my one bottle was pretty badly tainted.

This year I'll be in Vermont for T-day and Black Friday, so who knows if I can even get BCBS.

at Stoddards last year (and the year before) the bulk of what was available was regular + regular vintages. Vanilla was on tap but was spoken for in the first pours. Coffee kicked shortly after. I don't recall when Regal kicked, but anyways I don't think they really had a huge amount of variety

That's true. I'll pick up Sofie to get my saison in for cheap but the last time I purchased anything other than a "Bourbon County" or "Vintage Ale" from them was... well... never.

I went to Foundry around June of 2015 I believe, and they had a random Goose Island tap takeover (it was also occurring at Redbones and Joshua Tree). It was well run, and it was very easy to get Coffee on tap at Redbones, and I believe Proprietor's at Foundry.

Last year for Black Friday Foundry had a Bourbon County release party. Again, very chill and easy to get whatever you wanted. Granted they just had bottles of Coffee, I believe vintages and 2016's version of the regular and barleywine on tap, and Regal Rye on tap. I think they ran out of Coffee bottles, but if I recall correctly Regal Rye lasted for days, and of course the regular/baryleywine (and vintages) were on tap until at least the following weekend if not longer. Regal Rye also popped up earlier this year at Joshua Tree randomly.

So far I haven't heard anything about a Black Friday release in Davis though. I was toying with heading into Stoddard's this year just to try somewhere different. We'll see.

Regular bcbs was relatively easy to get in vt last year. I walked into a couple stores mid afternoon on Black Friday and grabbed bottles. no vartiants but No line, no fuss, no infections

I would love to confirm the rumors that there's no Coffee coming to MA this year - no need to rush around Friday morning since Regular lasts for a week or longer in many locations.

All of the bottles I got were from from infected batches. Purchased in Burlington area. Side note...Vermont has not seen any variants in a few years.

Those rumors are not true. Coffee will be coming to MA, but in extremely limited amounts, even more limited than last year. It is true that Original BCBS is in much less quantity than last year as well. In addition, it seems that there will once again be no Barleywine for MA, at least for Western MA. These confirmations come straight from my distribution and brand representatives for AB and Goose. Granted, the only way to know for sure 100% is to wait until product actually arrives in stores...

For anyone up here on the Seacoast there is a big Black Friday tapping at the York River Landing including a TON of good impy stouts going on.
