I'd imagine it's just like when Apple rolls out new products and everyone goes apeshit...the delivery surreptitiously happens a week or two in advance and GI places a sales embargo until Black Friday. Remember when the Harry Potter books were still coming out? I'm pretty sure that's how it worked then.

They hold back delivered product and release it at specified time/date. Nothing says that just because a product gets delivered that it has to hit the floor immediately

Facts have no place in a BCBS thread, sir. This is a spot for rampant rumors and specious speculation only!

Fair enough, that's just the only way I've seen it done in my market. In fact if we got BC out here I'm sure we'd deliver at the regular time and it would take a few weeks to sell the two cases allotted to the biggest liquor store.

i heard they are doing a mexican chocolate stout version and aging it in three different barrels.... jack daniels, lairds apple brandy, and red wine to compete with the rar. of previous westbrook releases

Some stores in Chicago break the release date and just put it out when it gets in. Some make an event out of it. Some hold it back for months and surreptitiously slip it out months later. All depends.

Most liquor stores don't have the time to devote to some crazy beer thing and see special releases as more of a headache than anything else.

What I would do is search the "southwest" forum for shops that got BCBS in 13'. Start shopping at those locations and get to know them. When the release gets closer ask them how they are handling the release. I would say bevmo or total wine are a safe bet. All bevmos and total wines in Cali got it and it was a 2, 4 pack limit and I was able to pick them up mid day without waiting in a line. Below is a link from the southwest forum on some places that got BCBS last year.

Finding any variants will be a much more difficult task and where you'll need to know the guys at the good bottle shops to get those.

So while you're technically early, it's not by much

While they weren't selling bottles at a release event, I do recall (and granted I got pretty liquored up by the end of the evening, but the photos prove I was there) attending a ticketed event at GI Clybourn on BF 2013. An "official event", if we really want to get technical about things.

Honestly, I always forget about that event because I never feel like shelling out the money for it.

Also, thread is now Pumpkin Advocate. So, carry on...
