Black Friday In Texas

I wouldn't say it's a shelf turd, but I can usually find it back in downstate IL when I go home for Christmas for $22-25/4. I'm hearing none of the distributors got any on Black Friday this year, though, so we'll see if the allocation has changed.

 

It changes as you get deeper into beer. Founders Breakfast Stout and Bell's Hopslam were "whales" to me once, but then the town I lived in suddenly started getting better beer. Then KBS was until I saw it sitting on the shelf in another beer store near me. Now it's mainly stuff like Cantillon, Westy 12 and beers that aren't brewed anymore, but to be fair, I don't really make much effort to obtain any of them. I just drink what's good where I'm at and try to catch some of the special releases when I can.

BCBCS and the other variants are still essentially whales, since they always sell out instantly here and I don't care to stand in line for 3 hours to try to get one. I had a Rare in my hands but didn't pull the trigger and bought two Vanillas in 2010, but have only had the coffee at a beer festival last summer and no other variants since then. Kinda sucks, but then again, the regular BCBS is so damn good I can't be too upset, and I've managed to get at least a couple 4 packs the past few years.

 

Trust me I doubt it would have made a difference.. I was told within minutes and as I was putting my shoes on, it was gone.

 

Managed to grab a 4 pack of regular in a trade last night. Craziness in the varients so far. Will probably have to trade out of state for coffee/barley wine. Would Illinois be the best bet? Might be traveling there next month.

 

Looks like Gabriel's in SA got Vanilla in today...but was gone within 15 minutes of his tweet

 

FYI - As of about 12:45 Total Wine Dallas put out a case of Vanilla. Looked to be 4-5 bottles left.

 

Where are the variants in Houston!? Smith can't be the only place to get them right?!?!

 

Does Randall's not get Bourbon County at all? Seems like Specs HEB and Kroger got the bulk of it.

They said they didn't get any variants other than vanilla.

 

Sad times, asked for a vanilla there last night, was told they had none.

 

So Taps on Washington apparently got 2 cases of Vanilla (confirmed at least 1).
