It has been almost 2 years since our last Black Friday get together. I want to invite everyone to Monty’s Krown on Friday November 29th at 1 PM for a no holds barred beer event. The plan is the same as always; bring beer that you want to share with your fellow beer enthusiasts.

Jennifer Clark has once again offered to open the bar early for us and have a cook on hand to prepare food if anyone gets hungry. Food at these tastings is always a good idea.

    Details:
Place: Monty’s Krown – 875 Monroe Ave Rochester NY
    Time: 1-6 PM
No limit to the amount of beer you want bring but be reasonable. (One bottle probably will not be enough but a case is too much) You know who you are
Bring your favorite tasting glass (We don’t want to use all the bars glassware)
Food is available but is pay as you go so remember to tip the cook and server. (Nothing new)
Feel free to bring a friend but everyone should contribute within reason.

Important: We want to be able to have future tastings at Monty’s so the place must be as clean when we leave as when we first got there. This means carrying out anything you came with including empty bottles. The rule is, leave with one more empty than what you carried in.

Most important: While this is a free event, Jenn is a gracious host and very accommodating. Please plan on brining some cash for a generous tip before leaving. She takes care of us so we should do the same!

    The rest is common sense:
    Plan ahead
    Have a designated driver
    Bring taxi phone numbers
    Drink plenty of water
Be safe and considerate of others

    Please come and have fun.

in terms of quantity, what do you guys normally bring along to a bottle share?

2 large format bottles seems like a good minimum, go bigger if you want, some things might not get opened.

Keith - I'd say a couple of bombers or equivalent at the low end. We've had anywhere from 15-35 people at the tastings at Monty's. I usually bring a cooler of 8 bottles or thereabouts and then decide what to open depending on what others have brought or are interested in drinking. Normally people bring beers you can't find around here or special release beers that come and go quickly in our area. Or something new to our area that many people may not have tried yet.

However, it's the company that is most important and everyone is welcome and encouraged to come regardless of what beers you bring to the tasting. So if you want to bring a bomber of a readily available brew that you would like to share, that is fine as well. There are certainly lots of readily available tasty brews now in town! Although, if you show up with a 12 pack of Bud Light, people may look at you somewhat askance  Cheers!

FYI - Another category of beers that people bring that I left out above is aged beer.

I made a google doc spreadsheet to list what beers you'll be bringing to avoid too much repetition. BM me for the link. I don't want to make it public because too often people get drunk and mess with everything.
