I am impressed. The brown was solid, rye session was damn good and Ginger Ninja has a ton of flavors going on, but is very tasty. Plus thy have the coolest can pull tabs. Also pretty sure all 3 were less than $2.25 a can for a single. I can't remeber where the brewer use to brew?
They are pretty good. I agree the session is very well done. I know the brewers name is Tyler. I believe it was started by some guys who own a few nice restuarnts and bars in the New Haven area. I also thought the brewer was one of them or just a lucky friend of theirs, but previous brewing experience makes more sense lol
I think the Granola Brown is very underrated. Probably because it is available. If you ever make it down to the brewery check out their THC and Disco Pig lines. Cheers.
Tyler worked with Tod Mott at Portsmouth and then Smuttynose and then became had brewer at Portsmouth. The Granola Brown is very good. Not a fan of most others. The gose's they released this past summer were not good, so little flavor. The Disco Pigs, ugh, don't get me started. Which is disappointing, I want to love all of them and hope they succeed.
Both the granola brown and ginga ninja are better than average beers. I agree that some of the disco pigs could be better but i have to give them credit for trying to brew things outside the norm (braggot, beer with sake yeast). End of the day the barrel aged golden sour (dp #2.1) is killer and easily the best beer I have had from them.
Wasn't much of a fan at first, but my last two trips there were great. Really enjoyed Hog Water and Piglet...
Granola Brown was great. Had it late in the Beervana Fest last fall with a bunch of BA/extreme beers already under my belt. But the fact I got great flavor from it and didn't taste like water at that point is a testament to how good a beer it was.
The Disco Pigs run from Terrible (Disco Pig Brett Brown Braggot) to pretty good (Brett Golden Sour Aged In Cab Franc Barrels). The lime was ehhh.
