Yeah that's strange, Myrcenary is a year round and Lugene just launched but I would think you would have got some over the winter. I don't know where you live in Missouri but just used the beerfinder on the Odell site and didn't see any Mountain Standard within a 100 mile radius. Looks like you may need to write some e-mails!

I've only tried three so far but have liked them all; Uinta's Labyrinth, Southern Tier's Iniquity and Stone's SSR.

Would you trade something east coast for one of those?

Not trying to be a homer but Black Top is delicious and I really like Lakefront's black IPA even though I'm lukewarm on most of their stuff.

Here in New England, I'm a huge fan of Atlantis from Rising Tide and just had a Toast from Lawson's and it was delicious.

Preferred New Glarus Black Top to the 21st Amendment and the Lakefront IBA, I think that's the only 3 I have had.

Yakima Glory would have to be my second as well.

Passed on some Wookey Jack last time I did an online beer order...kicking myself now after reading this thread! Next time!

Stone SSR and Uinta Dubhe are probably my two regularly-available favorites in the style. Both are excellent but would give the Stone Sublimely a slight edge. Oh, and fresh Victory Yakima Glory, too (although more a Dark IPA than Black IPA).

Depending on where you are in Missouri, I think I've seen some around Kansas City during the proper time of year.

In fact, it looks like they have it/will have it at a couple places I've been to: Bier Station in Waldo, and Tipsy's Liquor in Mission.

    Agreed - love the style.

Firestone Walker Wookey Jack (mentioned above several times) is the best IMHO.

Uinta Dubhe and Southern Tier Iniquity compete for the silver and bronze as far as I am concerned.

I seem to really only enjoy Wookey Jack. I just think this style of a hodgepodge of chic beer styles. I would rather drink a nice American stout. No thanks...

Stone SSR and FW Wookey Jack are excellent. Also Coast Event Horizon (black ale) is excellent. I need to try Uinta Dubhe and looking forward to trying Smuttynose Noonan Black IPA when available in my area. I would also like to try Odell Mountain Standard and Boulevard Grainstorm.

512 Black IPA is out now and tasty. Keg only though here in Texas.

I have not had any experience with Stone SSR or FW Wookey Jack, but I'm a fan of Widmer Bros. Pitch Black IPA. In fact, I prefer it over Uinta Dubhe. Just saying.

In related news, I have a few cans of 21st Amendment Back in Black that azblktl left in my fridge that have yet to be sampled.

...you must work for Widmer. This is the only logical explanation.
