So I posted a trade yesterday which I haven't seen offered before. I've got a complete set of Black Note: Batch 1 750ml (Feb 2012) Batch 2 750ml (winter 2012) 2012 4-pack (winter 2012) 2014 4-pack (March 2014) I'm wondering what you all think this would trade for. I would be looking to trade it as a complete package only (not breaking it up). Again, I've never seen this offered before, so it's hard to compare it to any previous trade. I had mentioned a list of lambics and some other bottles I'd be interested in. Not sure if I'm overshooting, or if I just haven't found the right person. Thanks in advance for your opinion!
it's my sense that you won't get complete "value" by mandating you won't break up the package. I think there could definitely be people out there who want 1 or 2 of these things to complete their set - but that means they already have the others and don't need to trade for them. in particular most people looking for one of the bombers probably has BN from this year. also also I don't think I have really seen the distinction between the batch 1 and batch 2 bombers - it's not like they came out in different years. I have one in my basement but tbh I don't know what batch it's from. so again some people might want both but others might just shrug. so if you want to trade them I think you would get back a lot more from trading the bombers to people looking for bombers, etc
Right, I know the most desirable items from the set are the 750's because they're the oldest and most limited. But that's sort of the whole point of this package...the fact that it's a complete package. I'm sure lots of people have 2014 bottles, and maybe some 2012 12 oz bottles laying around. But this would be an opportunity to get all of them at once. And I agree, I haven't seen much distinction between the first two releases (750s). But surely these two batches were not in barrels for the same amount of time, nor were they in the same barrels. I could still see how it would be appealing to be able to taste the two releases (along with the other two releases) at the same time.
yes I understand what you're saying, but I think this is like trading complete verticals (or it's exactly the same!). most people aren't really looking for the entire thing - they need this one or that one to fill the set. like, who would trade for my complete Parabola vertical? 2014 just came out so I'm pretty sure anyone who would want my 2010 probably already just bought 2014 and doesn't really have a need to trade for it
If I had what you were looking for I would be interested. Keep in mind this site has an extremely large amount of traffic. All it takes is the right person. I have 2 12'ozers of the 2012 I'm holding onto but a bomber would be badass
I think you'll have better luck in another year or so. A lot of people into Blacknote seem to still have a couple of small bottles of the 2012. Right now your trader is going to be someone who wants to show up at a bottle share like a baller with one of those 750s...
The 2012 has been drinking really well lately, so it does make me wonder how the 2011 large formats are right now. That being said, not sure I'd be willing to pay the price of admission, I have the patience to age a couple of my remaining 2012's for another year.
It has only been released the times I mentioned above in said formats. Nobody knows for sure if it's going to be annual or every two years. there hasn't been much consistency yet, nor any indication about the next release.
