Anyone having luck finding this? I've heard Strong Liquors in Minnetonka and Four Firkins in SLP had some but ran out quickly :(

No idea how we have it here in MN, if you look at the Beer release thread, it has yet to be released in Bell's General Store, or anywhere in MI for that matter

I was very surprised as well...had heard nothing about this prior to Princeton's tweet and still nothing about it showing up anywhere but here!

I was talking to the beer guy at my local shop about KBS and he had mentioned he saw Black note had been shipped to distributors, I cant imagine anyone thought it would be out this fast

It was pretty easy to get this past release here in the cities. Stores started with bottle limits, then a week or 2 later sold it at any quantity, Lake and Wine had it for well over a month

Were these just a second release of the last bottling of the Black Note 12 oz. bottles or are these actually Black Note '14? Is there anywhere on the bottles that would indicate the year?

I just looked at an empty and it was a 2012 bottling date. Do these have a newer bottling date. Might go downstairs and check the bottle I traded for recently but I think that was about a month ago so probably the older stuff for me if there is a new batch.

Anybody got a date on the released bottles? Both bottles I got at different times, one recently, were 12/28/12

North Loop had some behind the counter, 2 btl limit, $7.99, rang up as 6.99 and the person behind the counter immediately stated it was actually 7.99 and changed the price. Maybe I got the classic "twitter chaser" price.

Black note is delicious, but F stores for making this a $16 bomber when it should be a $18 4 pack. Ahhh the good old days when you could actually buy a 4 pack of KBS, blacknote, BCBS ect for retail... they're forever gone I fear.

While I do agree it would be nice to see these at the actual retail price. I have spent $16 dollars in the past month on worse bombers ( Im looking at you Boulevard Chocolate Ale)

Based on what I saw on BA today, it cost more at the Bell's general store in MI than it did at some of the stores here: $6.99/single, $23.99 4 pk, $130.99/case + tax

Haskells in St. Paul had 5 4 packs left after I picked up my 4 pack
they're charging $5.99/bottle...which seems to be the cheapest based on the responses here.
Apparently liquor boy is charging $7.99/bottle and they had some as of half hour ago

Thats what you get for buying something that says 'chocolate ale' ;)

And yes, you can do much worse for $16, but still...that doesnt help me swallow that pill at all.

I'm always the contrarian on this, but that's what happens when companies sell their product for well below the market value. This beer would probably sell out fast at $10/bottle. The reality is that most good limited beers are priced well below what people are willing to pay for them. Simple supply and demand.

That said, I also long for the days when I could pick up dusty bottles of BCBS months after release.

I noticed it's been a weird distro with some stores getting it last and some I normally would know get their shipment on Mondays aren't expecting it till next week, etc. So keep your hopes up :)

Yeah, I'll be checking a few places today. Usually downtown Haskell's is pretty good for stuff like this but they didn't have any.

Someone in the Bells General Store thread is claiming that the MN distributor screwed up and released it early. Not sure if it is true, but interesting. They said it forced Bell's to release it at the General Store yesterday while they were hosting Ober day.

It's supposed to be April 1st everywhere is my understanding (although like you said you never know with distributors). I know the local distributor here already has their stock and are just waiting for the 1st.

I wonder if the distributor was told by Bells to stop delivering Black Note and now stores that didn't get early distribution will need to wait until next week. Hopefully MN doesn't get shorted in the future like it seems GI did with BCBS for some reason.
