Black Note released today

It is still a great beer. It just doesn't have the hype that it once had. I think part of this may be because of how Bell's releases it. No ticket presale, no FB posts, tweets, IG, or any social media announcement. No chance for people to line up their proxies or mules. This and the last release was big enough that if you wanted to get it, for the most part, you were probably able too. I am grateful for the reduced hype.

 

It's kinda nice when brewers release like this. Gives me a chance to buy the beer instead of mules just buying up cases until it's gone. I don't know if I'll buy any of this release however, I still have 2 from last release and I'm trying to drink down my stouts a little.

 

Couldn't agree more about the way they handle these releases. I just wish I lived closer to the brewery. I was thinking the same thing about this release. I have 4 from last release and one from 2016. I've had one of each recently both were great.

 

Still have a 4 pack of 2017 I stumbled across at Xmas in the Yoop, but if I see this on distro I'll never pass it up! The single most memorable beer I have ever drank solo was a 3 year old 2012 Black Note cracked in 2015 that just had some perfect magical alchemy going on in the bottle where it aged perfectly. It was kind of an 'Aha!' moment for me and beer, so Black Note holds a special place in my heart. Here's hoping we see some in Milwaukee!

I'm the opposite, I liked 2016 b1 but loved b2 & 2017 is great & tasting better than ever now

The employees at the GS don't even know. There is a 2018 BN release scheduled but when, who knows. It's still sitting in barrels.

I would "assume" either, or both are released around the roll out the barrel event in October.

The BBA Expo was release in June last year but that's not saying much for this year.

After Laura Bell stepped down as CEO (the rumor has it anyhow), Larry wanted to change things up and offer something different that wasn't planned.

Personally, I think 2017 is an amazing batch. Better than (2012, 2014, 2016 B1 or 2016 B2).

Piggly Wiggly Cedarburg, WI has single bottles on the shelf. Didn’t see any limits. I think it’s $5.99 a bottle.

 

Another 60 cases of 2017 Black Note released to the general store a few days ago, no limits.
