Black note

Thats crazy to hear because everybody that I know that has had it loves it. I am going to be in Chicago soon and hope I can get a few bottles of this.

 

I've had it. It's okay. I'm not in love.

 

not really, I didn't like it at all. expedition stout is okay, and double cream is meh. Unfortunately okay+meh doesn't equal great. I feel like this beer is the poster boy beer for hype on rarity. If I gave a beer enthusiast a blind tasting of a kbs, a bourbon county, and a black note who hasn't tasted any of them I guarantee you 9 times out of 10 they would like black not the least out of the threee.

 

It's clearly been deteriorating since it's become less rare. I won't even drink it as a bloody mary chaser anymore.

 

Wait a minute. Have they done a second bottling of this? I really enjoyed the first bottling a while back.

 

I don't know if this was intentional or not but I laughed out loud.

I've had Black Note around 5 times and I've always enjoyed it. More for me I guess.

 

First: There was only 1 bottling.

Second: This beer is delicious.

Third: Not everyone has the same tastes. I'm a beer enthusiast, and I'd much rather have Black Note than KBS.

 

I live in Chicago, so if you know someone with a big stash please let me know!

On a different Note, I have never had a bottle, but the few times on tap this year have been great. If someone wants to trade me a bottle so I can compare and let you know how it is, come at me!

 

I know taste is subjective, but where are people going to find a FEW bottles of this lying around?

 

Tastes are different, but I question yours if you think Expedition Stout is just okay. That beer ages beautifully and I always enjoy it. Is BN hyped up, yes, but it is a quality beer and should not be considered meh IMHO.

 

I guess too each his own. I would just never bend over backwards to get a bottle or anything.

Nothing beats a side-by-side comparison, but based on recollections I'd take it over KBS. I stumbled upon some on tap in Ann Arbor MI a couple months ago and would have sat there all night and returned the next night if I didn't live 45 mins away.

 

Yeah, but would you bend over forwards? That's really the question now, isn't it?

 

I would drink Expedition Stout over this any day! When I finally had Black Note it was and is good, but never would I go out of my way for it again!

I think he means that if you think Expedition Stout is merely "okay", you're off your flipping rocker.
