How good is this brew for the $22 price tag?

I think specs at Westheimer/kirkwood had it yesterday. A buddy sent me an IM at work. Not sure if they still have any. I do know that the Jones location only got 1 case today.

I didn't buy any. Not a huge fan of that one, so the price keeps me away.

 

Picked up a bottle at CM N Lamar whilest I was up there for the Saucer's Vertical Epic release (06-12).

Lady at the beer counter (lady!) was like "It's $21.99... are you sure?!".

This stuff is EPIC with a year on it. EPIC. Gonna drink my 2011 ASAP. No more, no less. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.

Pick it up today or tomorrow... because stores generally get one shipment of this and THAT'S IT. I only lucked upon a bottle last year... much harder to get than even The Abyss, IMHO.

A little bird told me Westgate CM will be getting a nice allotment of Black Ops. Probably enough that there's no need for a bottle limit.

My experience with Black Ops...

The first year I had it, 2010, I thought it might just be the best beer I ever had.
Last year's tasted a little "woody".. having Abyss back to back with it, the Abyss was way better. I decided to lay down the other two I had. Hopefully time helped.

This year's version? We will see...

 

It's very good, but not worth the price.

 

This is a ridiculously terrible deal at $22. I like Brooklyn's beers...but this is atrociously priced. $8 for a four-pack of Black Chocolate Stout...$22 for 750ml of this? I've had it. Paid a steep $26 four years ago. Was entirely let down (good beer, even great, but for $26 / 750 you had better be INSANELY great).

Lately I am just so sick of rare/exclusive whale beers that cost more than wines and are no more competitive than other brews in the same categories.

 

Seem like I've doubled my trades and cost in Nov. and Dec.

 

Yep, this holiday season sure is expensive.
