I bought a bunch of beer this week.... went to a Vertical Epic tasting and told myself "alright, no more beer till next month" and immediately came home to a big box of beer at my door from the Rare Beer Club. LOL

It's a good time to be a in Houston for beer. Plus, I'm loving the weather. We've had many special release beers. Pumpkinator, Bodacious, BB1, YSYEO and now Fra Gee Lay. This is Houston only. Then, throw in JK's recent releases and cha ching! Good beer days for Texans!

As we've seen, one year's perfect for Black Ops. I've got one I need to crack open at some point soon and I'll pick one upfor this year too.

    Any sightings in Katy/West Houston?

Also, I like that they added a year date to the back on the label (just below the name of the beer it says "2012 RELEASE"... I wish every cellarable release would do this as I hate struggling to read bottling dates if I forget to tag it.

Any other Austin sightings? I've seen E1G, HEB Escarpment and CM North on here. I'm thinking about driving down from Round Rock tomorrow to get some, and was wondering on anything further north than CM

Last years release was Julian dated. I don't know why they must do it that way. Just put the damn date on there so we don't have to look up the table to decode it.

Tried it 3 years in a row now with various age on it. Can never say it's worth $22 yet I still buy it, so perhaps it is.

HEB Louis Henna had it tonight. $22. Good beer, but it's twice as expensive as BCBS and KBS...which are easily twice as great. It's nearly Black Tuesday price, which is in an entirely different class of beer. I like Black Ops but it's just silly expensive...kind of like anything from South Austin Brewing charging $13 for their .50 value.

BcBs and Kbs come in 12oz bottles. Are they less than 10 bucks a bottle? Ive never actually bought either, but i know Founders Breakfast stout was 8 or 9 for a 12 oz, not far off from the 22 bucks for a 750ml that black ops is.

I know Sunrise got it in today. Wasn't able to swing by. Any word that they've sold out? I was thinking about making a trip there after work tomorrow, but I'd like to have a backup plan just in case.

BCBS and KBS 4pks go for $19-$23. Founders Breakfast Stout shouldn't be more than $10-11 per 4pk.

BCBS's price tag always makes me hope they never release it in Texas.

I can stomach $22-25 once a year on Black Ops... but I know I'd be buying that stuff constantly.

Bcbs usually is around 18 now (I remember when it was 9 for a bomber in 09) and kbs is usually about 15-20. Having all of these I can tell you black ops is not worth 20.

KBS is hard to find at less than $30 a 4 pack. BCBS goes for less and is much easier to find.

Cool, thanks for the price counts! I must have paid less than i thought for breakfast stout, its been 4 years since i bought it and i could have sworn it was more expensive and only a single.

but then again, it was 4 years ago lol

WFM Kirby should have Black Ops later today. Probably in back just because there isn't space in the cooler.

Am I the only one who cannot stand this beer? It's the champagne yeast.
