Black Saison

Had a big homebrew version and a commercial example, neither really did it for me. Not saying I wouldn't try another, but my first experiences with them hasn't been that great. Something about the roasty, creamy, spicy belgian all mixed together just doesn't do it for me.

 

Sante Adairius makes excellent dark farmhouse ales. Farmhouse noir, Loves Armor, Brackish just to name a few. This style is best with some tartness IMO.

 

Green Flash made a collaboration one called Friendship brew so picked one up to share with some friends, naturally, none of us enjoyed it much, it was like a spiced over carbonated dry stout

 

If memory serves, Goose Island's Pepe Nero was quite nice.
