Has anyone had confronted issues with off flavors in Black Shirt's India Red Ale in the past couple months?

I first had it shortly after they began canning, and it honestly may have been the best Red IPA I've ever had -- better than G'Knight even. Piney, somewhat fruity, wonderful hop-bomb. I bought at least 2-3 six packs and enjoyed every one.

Then a few months ago, I picked-up another 6 pack and it was NOT good. I'm not an expert on off-flavors, but it was really grassy and earthy, and not in a good way. I was very close to returning the rest of the 6 pack to the store . . . but I got lazy and just DP'ed. More recently (a little over a month ago) I went to the brewery itself and tried a sampler to see if it was maybe a packaging issue -- low and behold, the same grassy and earthiness I found in the cans. That made me start believing the flavor was intentional, if so, I'm steering clear until I hear of a recipe change.

I suppose this might be an issue to raise with the brewery itself. But as I don't consider myself an expert, I'm not terribly interested in an awkward conversation where I point out flavors that I think are off and they say they are intentional. So wanted to first see if anyone has confronted similar issues and had any thoughts.

@Domingo could probably help you out as he knows quite a bit about the smaller places and their canning issues.

I had a canned version about 3 weeks ago and it was quite good. Haven't had one since, though.
The Colorado Red was a bit grassy and earthy...maybe they were mixed up
