I'm picking up a bottle of the '12 version of Black Tuesday soon and was wondering whether I should hold onto it for a year or two or drink fresh? I've had both the 10' and 11' relatively recently and loved them both, but never had it fresh. As well as it hides the heat, it's still a beast of a beer and I can't help but suspect a little time might do it some good. Thoughts?

I think this one is a bit hot, compared to where '11 was at release last year, so if you mind that waiting seems fine. With only one it hardly matters when you drink it, though.

@ 19.2% I can't imagine age would hurt. I have two waiting for me some I'm gonna try one and hold onto the other (probably at least 2+ years, depending on what I think of the fresh). I have never tried any though so I don't know.

I very luckily got my hands on two bottles this year! Like several others, I will be drinking one this week and intend to hold on to the other bottle for at least a year, maybe longer. Good luck!

i was pretty thrilled to get two. i'll hang onto one for 1-2 years and reserve the other for trade.

Even at a year old, Black Tuesday is an extraordinarily boozy and decadent beer. Age it most definitely, and share the bottle when you do open it.

I had a 2011 bottle a month or two ago and it was still stupidly hot. Then had a 2009 at another tasting and it blew it out of the water. Much more balanced and beautiful. Still a touch hot though, and could probably do with some more age on it. This hasn't reached its peak by a long shot, so I'd wait at least 4-5 years if you can hold on that long :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn would I have a hard time holding onto BT for a year or two. That's will power. It's some amazing stuff.

They need to do it like Champagne. For example - Pierre Jouet latest vintage is 2004 - released LAST YEAR.

I like getting it fresh and deciding how much to cellar it. I tend to prefer a bit of heat and wouldn't want them to make the choice for me.

I seem to have lost the vintage details. Can some post the ABV details for each year?? I have some 10's & 11's but don't know how to tell them apart.

    Thanks in advance.....
