There's a new Texas malthouse in Leander, TX.
They say they're the only maltster in Texas, and I haven't heard of any others.

A few of Texas craft brewers have started using them.
It doesn't appear that anyone is using only Blacklands, but they're brewing one-offs (I'm guessing to test the quality and character).

I hope the quality is good.

Brewers from outside Texas are also "experimenting" with their malts.

We've been using Blacklands as the base malt (barley and wheat) for almost all our beer for the last several months. We also used Texas grown raw wheat from Blacklands for all of our spontaneously fermented beer this past winter. - Jeff

Wait...can you just stop by the maltster and pick up a bag?

Yes, that's the only way to get it.

Call first before going by to make sure he's around. Number is on the website. The grain isn't cheap but it is local, (1 mile away from me) so its convenient, and I have been getting better efficiency with his malt, along with a lot of other brewers around town.

Hey folks, I got around to signing up on BA and ran across this thread. For anyone still not in the know, I am the only malthouse in Texas making local malts, and sell malt direct to homebrewers out of the malthouse. Check out what we do here: www.blacklandsmalt.com/malts
Shoot me an email or call if you want to stop by! We have Pale Moon, Red Winter Wheat, and Black Coal Smoked malts in stock right now. Cheers!
