... and now it is nearly 6 months later.

Did anyone bite on this kickstarter campaign? Has there been any word of actual beer releases? It seems pretty quiet in terms of website activity...

I follow them on Facebook and they post pictures of themselves posing ironically with brewing equipment...does that count?

I have a good hearted but honest question. A bit of background on why I ask it- I brew sour beers. Close to 400 gallons last year, in 5-30 gallon batches. I have a modest barrel program, a nice collection of yeasts and bugs and equipment, 200ish gallons of soured/souring beverage, and a healthy love of funky, wild, pastoral, and delicate flavors. A few guys in the twin cities will vouch I don't make crap, some of its even drinkable.

How in the name of everliving fuck do you plan on releasing a lambic 3-4 months into the game?

I'll need to come personally inspect your operation to validate the veracity of this statement.

likely by selling stuff they have already brewed. Not really kosher in the eyes of the law, but the guys at public safety are so overloaded that this isn't even a blip on their radar in terms of taking the time needed to research and slap on the wrist.

Are memberships still available? Has anyone tried the first beer?

I had a long talk with the brewer last mother's day and he stated to me that he had brewed at another brewery, sorry i forget which one, a few barrels of lambic. From my understanding he has been working towards this for years, contract brewing and then aging in barrels. Sorry memory is foggy because it was so long ago. Nice guy though.

I guess they are releasing something this weekend. I got a buddy up there for Homegrown and he might buy some so I can give a report after I try it.

I saw 750 ml of a belgian ale from them, I think they were around 10-12 bucks, at a Duluth beer store last week. Understated black packaging, nice presentation.

Bottle talked about belgian yeast, fruity flavors, don't remember much else. Didn't pull the trigger.

Is dubrue brewing this for them ? Where are they from? It seems strange that the digest siting would be in Duluth

Yep, to the best of my understanding Dubrue is the brewery used by Blacklist to brew and package their brands -either through an alternating proprietorship or through some other form of co-operative agreement- and for the time being seem to be the closest to a true "gypsy brewer" of any Minnesota-based brewery.

Their ultimate plan is to purchase a property in downtown Stillwater in order to start their own brewery, at least that's what I read last year. It's an ambitious plan, but they appear to be following through on it.

Meanwhile, Blacklist has crafted a series of recipes for the soon-to-be relaunched Joseph Wolf Brewing Co. of Stillwater, two of which received label approval late last year. Definitely some busy folks!

Does dubrue sell any where south of Duluth?I guess I had heard that their beer was basically average at best, so maybe I shouldn't care. That maybe a positive aspect for some of the less outstanding new breweries is that they can hopefully help some truly inventive brewers get going through alternate proprietorship agreements.

What beer did Woolfbrewing get approved. I recap hearing the styles but can't remember right off hand

I saw their Pub Ale at Town Hall Tap one time. Did not try it as there were a couple of others ahead of it in the consume list.

I've kept track of all the new outfits (but have slacked-off, lately) and recall reading that they had one of their offerings on tap at a local draught account (or maybe a few accounts), but don't think they bottle yet.

They don't really seem to get their information out there -- my guess is that they're just busy keeping that place up to speed with serving local Duluth accounts (plus keeping a tight rotation with the Blacklist brands and contracts).
Here's a sort-of recent news story on the Duluth scene.

Joseph Wolf has label approval for a Belgian-style Golden ale and a wheat ale (I forget whether it's a Witbier or a Berliner Weisse). Labels looked sharp, 750mL bottles.

I thought I had heard that they were doing a bw, do they have any plans on trying to recreate the old wolf brand recipe? On one hand Ii Think it's dumb to claim you've replicated the flavor of a beer without the recipe which no living human has tasted to tell you how far of you are. On the other hand I am a sucker forretro bbeers .

Blacklist is now listed here at Beer Advocate, so feel free to submit your beer ratings and/or "Hads". :sunglasses:

Edit: It looks like their bottles are only available in and around Duluth; Has anyone seen 'em in the Cities, yet?

I couldn't help myself from buying a bottle of the Or De Belgique when I was up in Duluth this weekend. The bottle definitely looked slick, and I'm a fan of Belgians. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the worst beer I've had all year. It tasted like a homebrew extract kit beer. It got dumped.

Any other opinions? I hate to be the only review...

Too bad. The chalice I bought from them at the St Paul Summer Brew fest is awesome. Hoped their beers would be. The samples were inconclusive.
