do yall fuck with blackrocks? IMO they are one of the most constistent players in the MI scene. 51K IPA, MyKiss IPA, Raeven Black Lager, Starman Pale Ale and a while back the azzacanaut (?) 51K, are all top notch beers readily available, at least in GR. Their other beers, styles i dont often consume, but have had theirs all seem to be really on point as well. anyway, yeah, Blackrocks is awesome! and maybe underappreciated?? Yall tell me..
51K is excellent and the one beer from them that I've had recently. I had a couple others on a visit to their pub the first year that they opened. They were so busy that I think they had only two beers left on tap. I don't recall which beers they were, but I'm pretty sure I liked them. There is just so much good beer coming from Michigan breweries that it's difficult to keep everything in your personal rotation.
Whenever I'm in the UP I always pick up a couple different Blackrocks offerings. The IPA is classic pre-haze bitter hoppy goodness and I also like Presque Ale and their pilsner when I'm able to come across them fresh. Years back I remember a rye red IPA from them that I found to be remarkably good. Haven't had any of their bigger darker stuff but would snatch up any I came across. Unfortunately they aren't available in Milwaukee but that's part of the charm with Blackrocks - any time I find myself drinking it I know I'm on vacation.
man i totally forgot about flying sailor ( red rye ipa), so good. as well as presque ale. both on point. and yeah MI is heavy on awesome beer. lucky us.
They’re my favorite UP brewery (which isn’t saying much!). Honestly, their everyday beers are great and easy to drink but what I really love about them is their commitment to outdoors and the adventures that go along with it. The brewery is small but welcoming and I always feel like it’s a chill place to have a beer.
Big fan of their seasonals. Nordskye is one of the best session ales I've ever had, especially the Galaxy version a few years ago. Also enjoy their pub alot.
