Was thinking of stopping by tonight...what is the general consensus - worth the visit now, or wait until this weekend for 755 w/ Galaxy?

 

Worth a visit to try the flight. The lager is one of the better I've had in quite some time. And the 755 was quite tasty, too. Wasn't wild about the other two, but there wasn't anything wrong with them.

 

this is why you need to go and make your own judgement.

I enjoyed the two belgians the most and the black lager was my least favorite.

The 755 was my first NE IPA so what do I know about beer. Bob did give me a little background on the style.

 

I would recommend waiting until this weekend unless you are in Saint Paul.

 

Thought the regular 755 was great, but will go over this weekend to try the Galaxy hopped version assuming it's available.

 

The Galaxy will be worth the wait. They're hoping it will be ready tomorrow, but they won't put it on until they're satisfied it's where they want it. As late as Monday if it still needs the time.

 

I got a taste last night of the galaxy one and it was good. Yeah they said Friday for the release.

 

Was there last Saturday. Enjoyed my flight and looking forward to the future of 755.

 

Stopped in tonight and had a flight. Everything in my opiniion was solid. I had both versions of Citra and Galaxy 755...both excellent! If I had to choose for my taste...the regular Citra 755 edges out the Galaxy hops. I'll be going back...seriously their beer is the shit!

 

FYI the galaxy is not on tap yet

 

Galaxy will be released Tuesday or more likely Wednesday of next week. There is a third new hop which should be released in two or three weeks.

 

Yeah, I should have clarified that they aren't serving the Galaxy IPA yet, but it is tapped and if you ask nicely they might give you a taste. Here's a Facebook post from my uncle that shows two glasses of Galaxy.

 

Galaxy hopped 756 IPA is available tomorrow in their taproom .


Hopeful they continue to add more beers each week, their taprooms doing good business for only the second weekend . Great to have another choice here in Saint Paul.

If anyone from the brewery is reading this can someone please hang some signage boards with beer names above the bar ! So much easier than looking for a printed beer menu and was talking with friends about what could make your taproom better they said "Put some painted artwork on those huge white walls on both ends of the space. That's such a great huge blank canvas and with so many great artists in MN it's a no brainer".

 

Had a taste of both the citra and the galaxy on Saturday, both amazing. Although too bitter for a NE IPA, the citra was crazy juicy and just flat out delicious. The galaxy was on point in appearance, taste, and mouth-feel. Can't speak for their other stuff, but the IPA game is strong.

 

Stopped in yesterday for the 755 and was able to get a sample of the 756 (galaxy) as well. Both are great, but my preference definitely goes to the galaxy. Echoing what others have already said - super nice space, super nice dudes.

 

I'm happy to see they have different names for the beers. Tickers gonna tick!

 

Some good points here except I would say it would be their own fault for filling a dirty growler with their beer. Just don't fill them if they are dirty. That's how most places handle that.

 

So Galaxy is going to be released at 4pm today but there may be more, unless they change their mind during the last second.

 

I posted this in another thread. All of Black Stack beers including their New England IPA are all malt beers they are not using oats, corn etc. that we see in other New England IPA's around the country.
