It is way too spare in there. I'm all for big industrial spaces, but it comes off more cheap DIY than chic. Needs some screening or other design device (while still allowing view) between the tap room and brewery besides a short wall. Minneapolis ordinance would have required bike racks, but St. Paul doesn't. Still, it's a parking sh!t-show in that small lot and a secure bike parking area is essential. Hiring an architect could have been useful (shameless plug...).

Can't go wrong with trippy hex perf CNC machining has made this kind of stuff cost effective and accessible. Admittedly, I haven't been to Able yet, but heard good things (about the space - has the beer improved?).

 

I have always thought, if a place brews good beer, that is all I need to enjoy the place. After going to BlackStack, I have changed my mind. The place is spartan and not in a good way. I have a beer and then want to head somewhere else, next.

I had the 757, wasn't anything special. Not sure if this is a single hopped beer or if the hop they use on each iteration is just for dry hopping but I didn't really get any of the usual fruity flavors Vic's secret gives.

 

Any word on the crowlers?

Yesterday BlackStack Brewing Cream Ale was released. It's an unfiltered beer brewed with experimental/new malt from Country Malt It's a solid effort!
