Just opened my first bottle of this local brew and I was taken back by how good it is--I was not really expecting much from this "unknown" plain labeled bottle. Very tasty IPA, surprised it doesn't have a higher score on here.

Funny how something so "un-hyped" can actually catch you off guard because your expectations aren't through the roof

I though it was pretty good too, better than I was expecting but not anything mind blowing. If I remember correctly its fairly cheap as well which is always good.

everything had to be an unhyped beer at some point. Even Pliny and CBS were local and unhyped until more and more people had it. Ive had an amazing local Belgian White, but it wont make it far.

i thought this was a solid ipa but i don't remember being thoroughly blown away by it. it was also one of the later beers i sampled that day, so i can't promise my palate was being totally honest with me. i'll have to try it again.

The guy who is Blatant has been around for ages. Matt Steinberg, he was with Martha's Exchange, a couple others, and, oh, yeah, Mayflowwr, where he basically came up with the recipes for most of their brews. (not to mention he would post on here all the time, haven't seen him lately.) Not really surprising he'd come up with something like this. It's not knock-your-socks-off hoppy, or extreme in any way, just a really good, way too drinkable beer.

Very good on cask also, if you can find it.

Not mind-blowing but certainly a great IPA. Its cheap and local which means I will be buying it frequently.

If you say blatant three times Matt will appear in the thread.

I liked the draft version I had a month or so ago better than the bottles that recently came out as it had a cleaner/more focused hop profile.

The bottles are cheap for bombers, but still not cheap if compared to six-packs.

The last time this happened to me was with Stowaway IPA from Baxter Brewing. Check it out if you haven't already. And it's more affordable too given that it's sold in six-packs of 12oz cans.

both Emannths and longstaff are correct.

Bought a couple of bombers last week, was actually looking forward to it as its brewed in my back yard so to speak. Very nice, will have to find it on tap. Maybe at the Moan & Dove?

It's a nice beer - I wouldn't really call it un-hyped/unknown though, at least around these parts. The pedigree and expectations were in place at release.

I was very pleased with this brew too, nothing over the top, but a really nice mellow IPA that even my girlfriend enjoyed. Another thanks to Reagan1984

I also enjoyed this beer greatly and felt the price was more than affordable.

had it many times on tap... a nice bright citrusy IPA.... not in the same league as the big IPAs, but sometimes you don't want something that big (or expensive)

On tap right now at Armsby Abbey in Worcester and the Pour Farm in New Bedford. We are out of draft IPA for the time being, but stay tuned as we get re-grouped and produce more. So get your 22oz bottles!
