I had an Abyss from the year that it was a little sour (2009?). It was kind of gross, but, it was a bottle share event, and we had a bottle of Lindeman's Framboise open, so...

    Result was good.

Add 1/2 oz. of Wild Turkey (Admittedly not beer but bourbon) to Genny Bock. Love it! How could Genny Bock get better? How about barrel-aged Genny Bock!

Sweet Repute is a decent beer for the style in small poors, by itself it is really sweet and hard to drink an entire glass, at least in my opinion.

But i mixed 6 oz of SR and 6 oz of Founders Breakfast Stout and damn did that ever open up. A fine mixture of sweet and coffee ... i highly recommend doing this if you have a bottle of Repute that cannot be moved.

Anyone else have any beer mixture (i believe this is called randalling) recommendations?

World Wide Stout Randalled with black cherries... that was a good one.

That being said, I liked Sweet Repute enough to drink a whole one (10oz draft though). But blending it with Breakfast Stout does sound good.

I could see drinking those side-by-side, but I'm not one to mix directly.

I've been thinking of blending a Founder's Rubaeus and a Breakfast Stout, or, *gasp*, a KBS.

Did you do a 50/50 mix with Rubaeus and Breakfast Stout?

ballast point 70% big eye 30% black marlin porter. they have made kegs of it called black eye. I tried making it, liked it but wouldn't do it again. the base beers perform better alone.

For the Ballast Point, beer can chicken comes to mind (just use an empty tin can since it's a bottled beer) ... use 8oz or so, and use the rest to make a reduction sauce.

That's what I do and it's fantastic. I would start 50/50 and you can adjust to taste.

I think with all these beer blending suggestions, particularly when we're talking about top notch components (KBS, BCBS, Sweet Repute, etc etc) it should be noted somewhere that you should experiment an ounce or two at a time. Put a shot of kbs with a shot of rubaeus, not a whole bottle of each, in case you don't like the mixture or think the ratio is off, you haven't now wasted a KBS.

I overheard someone at Brevard Brewing Company's bar ask for a dunkel and ipa mix - I got one immediately after that and it was such a great mix.

Better to try it with their Sticky Toffee Pudding... Banana bread with caramel sauce

edit: ok, maybe not 'better', but I think a pretty good idea.

edit 2: Speaking of SS Organic Chocolate Stout (or Young's Double)... I bet that'd go great with a Rogue Hazelnut Brown... Nutella in a glass

YES!!! I've done this time and time again. My wife, friends and I went to the KBS release and Black Party ordered BS & Rubaeus, and even stepped it up a notch with KBS & Rubaeus....even BETTER! Needless to say, people looked at us funny until we told them order one and try it for themselves.

Just like Frank the Tank said...."Once it hits your lips."
