I have a few more as well, and here goes another one.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A-Jet black and VERY thick. Like motor oil, this one looks big. Almost no head to speak of whatsoever. 4

S- Huge butterscotch notes, sweet sweet chocolate and vanilla. I think I know what this is already, and although I enjoy it, it is going to be tough to put it down alone. 4

T- Oh yeah ST Creme Brûlée. For sure. If you dont like butterscotch, don't buy this beer. It is so sweet with that, the vanilla and the chocolate it's crazy. I really do like this beer, but in small quantities. A bomber alone is just way too much to handle, and I think I'm now diabetic. 3.5

M- Very low cArbination, and very thick. This would be a perfect after dinner sipper, as it is a dessert in itself. Slick and oily mouthfeel. 3.5

O- I enjoy this beer and have had it on a few occasions, but not in quite some time. Buy and enjoy with friends. Thanks Kevin! 3.5

That's a pants pissing terror of a kill shot! Looking forward to reading that misery. Cuzco was the sicko who downed Sam Adams Triple Bock and loved it.

opens to a loud gunshop pop.

s: belgo yeasts, trappist dust perhaps? slightly metallic, then delicious sweetness. cotton candy, vanilla, plum and banana. thick syrupy currant nectar and faint carnations

a: brown and brown. nah, there's a touch of ruby, closer to burnt ember. thin foamy one finger of slightly off white head that is slow to subside.

t: cherry, clean, deep malt complexity. very mellow, has aged for some time. figs, raisins, currant and plums. sweet and smooth. slight oxidation, year apparent in carbonation which can be seen dancing in the buttles like small elephants wearing party hats. one has a kazoo.

m: medium, smooth and smoother, something nicely settled and aged, despite the lingering heat.

o: bsda, bsda, gonna guess an older chimay blue, based on c'c bottle. neorunner agrees. delicious and happy to have shared it b/c of higher abv creeping into my non-dinnered stomach.

reveal, damn, 2005 blue. lucky guess and a delicious bottle. thanks again for the awesome vintage. iirc, this is the last bottle. will revisit after forum xfers and i can recheck previous threads.

cheers all. thanks for a great round, looking forward to the next one.

I'm back. Sorry for the delay. The product I've been designing for the last three years just went public and my life has been hell. For those Avionics buffs out there I have been working on the Rotax 912iS. I am going to try and close out my reviews today.

12oz bottle shared w/ Pitasoup (he's living w/ me now). Golden yellow in color when poured into a New Belgium tulip with two inches of light fluffy cloud-like head. This beer is nuclear green jolly rancher in the nose to the point of chemical esque aromas. Green apple and cloyingly sweet for flavor. I can't say that I'm a fan of this beer, the chemical aroma comes through in the taste as well. Could be from growing up in an ice cream store and being very attuned to artificial flavors.

The reveal: New Glarus Apple Ale. Well this is a great beer to send in this BIF, if only because it is so polar in all accounts. Reading the label it says they used green apple juice, I'm wondering if it was concentrate.

Slightly smaller than 12oz bottle split two ways. Hazelnut brown in color with a thin coating of carbonation. Aroma is strong caramel / molasses and some smoke and vanilla. Flavor is consistent with a northern English brown, but slightly stronger in the alcohol department. There is a lingering hop flavor at the end similar to east kent goldings. This beer brings me back to the Caledonia sleeper train going to Scottland, only because I had one to many of it in the bar train car. I'm enjoying this one and Pitasoup is not. My guess is Traquair.

The reveal: Traquair House Ale. Nice, good stuff. Also this is a 1001 book beer, thanks!

22oz bottle poured into two New Belgium glasses, shared with Pitasoup. Appearance is copper red in color and very little carbonation. Aroma is faded C hops and a huge malt backbone and whiskey. Initial taste is rye sweetness and bittering hops. This tastes like a young barleywine. Pitasoup thinks its HI-FI. Strong oak flavor is coming out as the beer warms, but something is funny in the finish of this beer.

The reveal: Mirror Mirror 2009. This is the supposed infected batch, which could explain the slightly off finish. Overall this is a very nice beer and the infection is so minor it almost a non-issue.

By my count I have 3 remaining.

Here we go, 12oz bottle poured into snifter.

A-Pours JET black with maybe a finger of head that fades quickly. A bit of lacing lingers behind. 4

S-Alcohol, and lots of it. Black licorice, rum and lots of plum and raisin. Lots going on here, but it all works. 4

T- Wow this one is a monster. Very boozy with plum and rum soaked raisins. Also some dark chocolate and licorice like in the nose. Even with how boozy it is, the flavor isnt dominated. It is very complex but blends together nicely, although I sure am glad this is a 12oz format. 4.0

M-Very smooth and for the heat, surprisingly easy to drink. Low carbonation that works perfectly. 4

O- I really enjoyed this, quite the sipper and I wouldnt hesitate to have this again. 4

Reveal- DFH WWS. For 18% this is a real champ. Thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks!

First your killshot did NOT kill me.

Second, I have not been nearly as active as I had been on the new forum.

Third, I have only a couple beers left to review, one of which will follow this rant....

12oz bottle with #11 written on duct tape.

    Poured into a snifter glass

Pours a nice light golden color with a pure white head

Smells of hops like bit of Christmas pine in the background.

Taste backs up the smell with a hint alcohol.

Overall a very nice double IPA (which I believe it is)

The winner is: Squatters Hop Rising DIPA!!

Very nice. would like to try again much fresher!!!!!

    Next beer:

12oz bottle with #12 written on duct tape

    Poured into tulip glass.

Light amber color with full white head that sticks around though out the experience

Smell is muted hops (should have drank sooner I am sure) with a nice full body malt profile

Taste is very similar to smell. Some muted hops and lots of malt.

Drinkablity is high for a beer that I am sure is beyond its prime.

Overall I am impressed with this IPA and would love to try it much sooner

The winner is: O'Dell Mercenary DIPA

Im confused...I never saw a rating for the killshot (which I think was #10), nor the bottle you thought you might have misplaced if I remember the last thread on the old forum (which I think was #5), I remember you skipping over that one at the time...

Oh no, maybe I have a hidden killshot somewhere in my house!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I will have to go through my cellar to look for it. I think there was a beer that was missing or lost somewhere because I never found a #5 in the box.

I never found the #10.... I must have consumed it while the board was down before during a tasting. I must make amends for this injustice.....

I think this is officially dead. I know there are still reviews out there to be posted, but at this point it may never happen.

Is someone working on the next round? If not, why not? Can I help?

If the ball is already rolling, count me in!

Yeah - I think we're safely into "it ain't gonna happen" territory for the remaining beers. These boxes went out 4-5 months ago. I'd definitely love to see the next one get fired up soon...
