I see so many blind tastings where people use normal clear glasses so how come people don't use stainless steel cups or at least colored glass since many people know what a certain beer looks like?

Same reason they don't use blindfolds? No idea.

No one likes rust in their beer.

I reckon a sour in a ss container would be like drinking a battery

You might think you know what a beer looks like, but put it against 5 others in the same style and you'd probably be wrong.
People think they know what certain beers smell or taste like too, but they're also often wrong about that.

I think people should have to gouge their eyes out before a blind tasting to make it completely believable.

Who the hell owns a stainless steel cup? But your right, seeing the beer can be a give away especially if you know which beers will be included in the tasting and have had some of them before. It would be best if you had no idea which beers were being used and someone said "Here are 5 IPA's rank them 1-5". In this case you would want them in a glass so you can judge color etc, but I guess that's not really a blind tasting. I guess a dark colored plastic cup would work. I have tried closing my eyes before but it doesn't work well. I have won quite a few friendly wagers in my day betting friends that I could tell the difference between Bud light, Miller light, and Coors light, or betting them that they could not. My poor grandpa who has been a Miller light drinker ever since he switched from Old Style quite a few years ago now told me several times that Bud was the worst beer on the planet and he could pick that crap out of a line up. Not only could he not pick it out of a lineup but he identified it as the best beer in the line up. He said "to hell with that" and went back to his Miller Lite.

None of this is making me want to buy a stainless steel cup...ever. Oh kegs are made of it? Okay.... we will buy kegs for our next blind tasting. Brewing tanks too? I guess we will go directly to the brewery and drink from the tank we can just wear a blind fold during travel so that location wont be a give away. My fridge is stainless steel, will that work too? Gee golly thanks for the info guys.

Obviously you aren't gonna go buy one. Did you see the prices? There like 9 bucks each. I just know I've had sour beers on tap, I've worked with stainless steel brewing equipment, and I am aware of stainless steel growlers and cups, so I don't think the flavor is effected.

If the OP is concerned about the color of beer showing in a blind tasting then it is actually a good solution. Probably better than drinking out of plastic. Presumably, it is indestructible (at least by your average drunk-BA) and you could probably use it as a weapon.

    It's a win-win-win.

Oh no, I wasn't worried about the flavor being effected I was just saying "Who the hell owns a stainless steel cup? " because 99% of people probably don't own one .And I wasn't sure how kegs or brewing equipment had anything to do with anything.

Here's your answer OP. Most folks have zero idea which beer is which based on color alone (unless you're asking which one is the Rapsutin and it's up against Allagash White, Sierra Nevada Kellerweis and Narragansett Cream Ale).

Aside from Heady Topper, I wouldn't be able to pick out a single beer based on color alone. Sure I could guess, but it'd still just be a guess.

There is nothing wrong with 316ss as a drinking vessel in a blind tasting -
    Even 304ss would be fine

Throw a Mongo in the tasting, Heady Topper is no longer the sole chunky beer in the tasting.

Ahhhh, never had a Mongo. I didn't know it was a "chunky" brew like HT.
