I am think about buying this system but can't find a calculator to calculate how much water to add to the grain bill. Currently I have a 10 gallon mash tun and get pretty good efficiency using Beer Smith 2 or Sparge Pal. I make about six beers and over time I have been hitting my numbers consistently. Since there is no room for adjustment except leagthening the boil time to increase OG. I really am not comfortable with this system if I don't have a calculator to help me set a base. One brewer I know suggested using a Brew in a Bag calculator. What I need is a mashing alone calcualator since the Easy Brew system has no sparge
Are you just saying you need a calculator that supports the "no sparge" method? And BeerSmith doesn't do that? That's sort of surprising to me. But if true... BrewCipher does...just set the Brew-In-A-Bag indicator to "Y." The bigger challenge might be determining the new dead spaces/volume losses associated with your new system. BrewCipher (and other programs/calculators I'm sure) have parameters to enter those in.
I'd you are using Beersmith, the mash profile would be one of the 3 BIAB profiles. If you've picked up a turnkey BrewEasy setup, the desktop version supports download of the 3 stock equipment profiles: 5, 10, 20 system. The predetermined efficiency setting is 69%. I've noticed Mash efficiency closer to 55-59%. There are some threads out there that have some ideas on increasing efficiency.
