this batch was thinner and less chocolate-forward than previous years and i didn't think it was that good at all. you get some good heat and subtle chocolate notes as it warms up, but the lack of carb leaves this beer falling flat (wah wah) on its face.

the kriek, however, was fucking great. very traditional oud bruin/flanders-influenced with solid balanced pucker and those oaky bourbon tannins throughout.

Haven't tried any of my bottles. Thought it was OK on tap. Not too stoked on these reviews...

Honestly, it was a bit off on tap as well. I had it when it first went on and I got a lot of peat. When I had it again before the release of bottles there was very little peat. Still the vintage was less than what I was hoping for. When I heard the bottles were flat, I wasn't hoping for much. It's still okay but far from what 2012 was. I hope next year brings back some good flavors because SN can be a great beer.

@Phobicsquirrel The 3Ls had additional yeast and sugar added so they are carbed. My friend won one and asked.

FWIW I opened a Super Nebula bottle yesterday and thought it tasted fine. Definitely has a familiar Block 15 smell, and benefits from airing out a little. Good chocolate flavor with some underlying fruitiness. Alcohol is pretty evident both in aroma and taste, but not offensively so. I didn't even mind the lack of bubbles, mouth feel was fine. Haven't tried it on draft yet.
