Boy, do I feel stupid. I was at a local purveyor of craft beer this morning picking up some easy drinking summer beer (Abita Purple Haze, Sam Adams Porch Rocker, and Saranac Shandy) for a b-day party today. I saw some six packs of raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry beer but I could not find the name of the brewer on the bottles or carrier, only that they were brewed an hour away in Baldwinsville, NY and they looked intriguing. Due to my mission for easy drinking summer beers I was thinking of trying them but decided not to because they were high octane (8%) and that wasn't what I was after. As I was checking out I asked about it and found out that it is an AB product. DOH! Boy, do I feel duped, especially because they did not put that it is an AB product on the label. Maybe they are good, and maybe some day I'll try them, but at this point in time I would rather buy from smaller producers. And I'm really torqued that they leave off that it is an product of AB-InBev. I know a lot of big companies do it, but considering how many smaller breweries I just feel seriously, intentionally, mislead.
As I was duped, I went ahead and bought a 6 pack hoping my wife would like it. Only after I went to their website did I find out who the brewery truly is. Is that the only way to find out what big beer is associated with ? Big beer has their hands in everything apparently .
