A friend just texted me that the Blue Monk in Buffalo is closing at the end of the month. Odd timing for me since I was just in Buffalo in Tuesday and stopped in for the first time. Apparently some sort of lease issue with the landlord. Anyone have any insight?

The article said the partners couldn't get along. I guess when you're making all that money and sitting on a pile of money you can just shut shit down on a whim. Hopefully all the employees find new jobs and the partner who seemed to give a shit reopen a bigger better joint.
The owner has several other places (Moor Pat, Allen Burger Venture, Cole's among them) so I'm sure the employees will be taken care of. He's also said they'll likely re-open the Monk in another location and is also opening a brewery (Thin Man) that, given the brewer he landed, shows a lot of promise. Definitely an unfortunate situation, but the City of Buffalo still has many great beer bars to fill the void. Most of them owned by the same dude!
It's irritating since it's my favorite place to go when I visit Buffalo (which is pretty often). But at least they'll be open, hopefully, through the summer and eventually find a new location.
