They actually DO go pretty well together. Bacon wrapped pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate are very delicious. And the bacon flavored beers (and even sodas) are actually quite good.

I agree the combination of salty/smokey bacon and chocolate is a wonderful combination and go very well together.

I had this last Friday at a bar and it was pretty meh as I expected. I couldn't taste any bacon influence but I was also smoking a cigar so that might account for the lack of flavor. Tasted like a below average chocolate porter to me...

They also had a Caramel Apple Spiced Amber that was decent. I could at least taste the apple in that one.

I had this in Wrigleyville of all places, I was sober when I tried it, and was very underwhelmed.

Very thin, carbonated, tasted like chocolate soda pop, but had a weird essence of grease.

Does it come with a slice of ham hanging on the rim of its glass?

If some of the worst beer out there gets better, so be it. I will have to try this based on the name alone.

"Bacon beer" is dumbed-down American for rauchbier.

I reckon it has to be better than the Blue Moon Vintage Blonde Ale that I couldn't finish the other day but maybe Coors will surprise me *if* this shows up in town.

Rogue's Maple Bacon Doughnut it pretty freaking awful, so... I wouldn't assume that this is going to be great!

Uncommon Brewers Bacon Brown Ale rocks my socks. While its not like drinking a piece of bacon. The essence of what makes bacon, well, bacon was there. Little Smokey, little maple-y, little bacon-y. If the blue moon can hit anywhere close to what Uncommon pulled off, it should be decent. And I'll be eglad to try anything from then I'm not obligated to float a piece of fruit in. Fruit is from eating, not garishing a beer.

I have had some bacon home brews, really they're just vaguely disguised rauchbier....which is a good thing! I actually noticed at the beer store today, that there were about 4-5 craft smoke beers, and I know more "bacon" beers will be coming. I'm not positive...but I think the next big "thing" on the horizon, might be smoked beers. Even one of the Bruery RS allotment beers from March was a smoked beer.

Really wish they would focus on packaging more traditional European lagers ... the beers they brew at the SandLot in Denver are damn good.
