I am staying in Jim Thorpe, PA until Saturday and am looking for any recommendations for the area. I am from DE and haven't been up here before.

I will be going to Blue Mountain Ski resort tomorrow for the day with the wife. Anything good? From the website it says they have 3 or 4 restaurants that serve alcohol. Anyone been?

Then hunkering down in the hotel tomorrow night for the Noreaster (right off of 476 in Lehighton) !!!
Where can/should I stock up on beer in case we are snowed in on Friday??

For Friday it looks pretty much open as the bitter wind chills and 6-10" might keep us off the mountain and I am in need of things to do and places to see, and of course beers to drink! (inside)

Saturday I am on my way south back to the beaches of Delaware. I will hopefully be stopping at Tired Hands that afternoon. What else should I stop at on my way back? Route Home

Any and all recommendations greatly appreciated! Happy New Year!!

    Cheers, Matt

Jim Thorpe has some fun drinking establishments and some really shady dive bars. I don't recall how good their craft selection is though generally . You should probably check out http://www.broadwaygrillepub.com/ - I had fun there. Draft list online is currently:
    Weyerbacher Winter Ale
    Troegs Mad Elf
    Stoudt's Four Play IPA
    Leinenkugel Snowdrift Vanilla Porter
    Samuel Adams Winter Lager
Red Castle Dark Dungeon Bourbon Coffee Stout
    Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale
    Stegmeier Winter Warmer

There's also a nearby P.J. Whelihans. I haven't been to this location, but I have been to others, and they have a pretty standard tap list for a sports bar - nothing spectacular, but the wings are pretty great, and I've seen offerings like Troegs Perpetual IPA in the past. I suspect that every PJ's caters to a different crowd, however, so you may want to call ahead. The contact info is:
    101 Harrity Road
    Lehighton, PA 18235
    (610) 377-1819

As for drinking on Blue Mountain - I tend to not ski and drink, so I can't recall what specific beer offerings Blue Mountain has. Within the lodges, I'm inclined to say that the selection is pretty mundane. I don't remember seeing anything spectacular when I drank there.

Have fun skiing and be safe. I'm heading to Killington this weekend myself...

    Very close to your hotel:

Never tried their beer, but grabbed a burger and fries there when it was only a restaurant. Decent enough. Looks like they fill growlers.

everything from above, plus Molly Maguires in Jim Thorpe as well.
PJs is probably right across the road from where you're staying (assuming you're right at the exit), and would be walkable if not for temperature and 4 lane highway to cross.
If you get cabin fever and want to go for a little ride, Barley Creek isn't far, their own beers are pretty decent and they have guest taps as well.

If it snows 6-10" you better be riding and not drinking. Leave early in the morning and take your time getting to the hill. There's nothing like a pow day.
