Does Bo and Luke from Against the Grain have much cache in the broader beer world? I'm going to be hauling a few home for myself and wonder if it's worth picking up a couple more than I would want to trade later. I'd never heard of it before my visit to louisville but Im not that hip on the scene.
It's really not something people look for too often, and the ones that do probably go to the event. Smoked Stouts aren't for everybody, so I don't think it ever really acquired a huge hype.
I think it sees a ton of distro as well so I'd say no. My local gas station has a case of the regular bourbon barrel and then if I make a trip to Buffalo it's also on shelves. Could just be my area tho perhaps?
Yeah I would say your in two pretty good areas for ATG then. Cuz I've never seen it here in Indiana and we get a lot of their stuff. Special series and all.
What's crazy is that my area is absolutely AWFUL for beer and distro, so it's funny how we have that one sitting around! I just figured that it was widely distributed based on how often I see it. Without driving to Buffalo our best options are very limited and even there it's not much better.
Walked into a store here in MA last Saturday and saw they had a few bottles on the shelf. Grabbed one even though the $30 seemed a little high to me
well I got one trade im stoked about out of this post and grabbed a few to take home. Never had it before the other day but it really hit the mark for me, great stout and i can't wait to taste the variants
B&L had a little trade buzz maybe 5 or so years ago, before every brewery began making BA stouts. Even at the time though I seem to remember Louisville traders having a hard time getting $4$ for it due to the high sticker price. Its a good beer though, not too smokey if I remember correctly. I’m glad it worked out for you @stevepat
They had a hard time getting $4$ out of it back then? And that's when it was a collab with de Molen AND aged in PAPPY barrels. That's crazy. It's still one I've never managed to try but have always been interested in.
ya I thought the smoke was very well played, along with the barrel. I also thought the sticker price wasn't bad at all 18 for a 750 ml (only about 70 cents an oz), that's the reason I went back and got more for myself. After tasting it I found it to be a great deal
