I would say the 2 is probably around the time the variants tapped last year. We would go inside and get them and drink them in line.

Last year, the variants tapped at 5, the same time as the bottle sale started. If you were in line, and didn't have someone at the bar getting your pours, you got shut out. The first three variants blew in about 15 minutes.

I have heard they were going to try and fix that problem this year, but since there has been so little info released about the event, who knows. Selling tickets for the pours would be helpful, maybe.

If you have a presale ticket, and don't care about any of the potential 'rare singles' that may be released, just go stand at the bar until you get your pours, then go get in line. But if you don't get there until 5:30-6, you probably won't get anything again this year.

By 'rare singles' do you mean the one-off variants that aren't part of the 4-pack? Are those only sold for people waiting in line? Do those also get tapped?

I can get there any time and will definitely be there before 4:00; I just didn't want to stand in the 4-pack line since I already have one reserved. But if I have to get there early and stand in line for the one-off variants, then I guess that's what I have to do.

Not a great setup for those of us flying solo.

I could be incorrect, but I believe there's other stuff that gets sold one off aside from Bo and Luke (i.e. London Balling).

London Balling was a 'bonus' for four-packs last year. There's another TBA bonus for this year, not expected to be another Bo & Luke variant.

I think the 'rare singles' comment referred to other bottled Bo & Luke variants that are very limited and aren't included in the packs. They've bottled Vanilla, Cognac, and Port before, none of which have been sold as part of the four-packs. I know those sold out quickly last year, but I was curious as to whether you had to be in a line to get to them, or if I sat down at the bar at, say, 2:00 would I have to get up and get in line to get them?

Also, will there be separate lines for those with and without tickets? The pre-sold packs go on sale at 4:00 and the 60 remaining packs go on sale at 5:00. What's the point of lining up early if you're guaranteed a pack?

Just trying to get a better sense of how this works. Communication from the brewery on their FB event page would be helpful.

How quickly do the regular Bo & Luke bottles usually last? I have a ticket, but I'm interested in picking up more than 1 of the regular bottles. Would I have to go through line multiple times to get a couple of bottles?

First, they made an error when they said 4:00. Both the public sale and the pre-sale begins at 5, in the same line. All B&L bottle sales occur in that line. Last year, they also released London Balling. This year, it's rumored that Erogenous Rhone will make its first appearance in cans/bottles. That will also be in the same line.

If it is like last year, they will post a board of what is available for sale, and they will cross items off as they sell out. In addition to the variant packs, you may also purchase THREE bottles of regular B&L per trip through the line (one to drink, one to save, one to share -- their words). Rare bottles are sold one per person until they are gone, and those last year were Vanilla and Cognac, which were 15 (or fewer) bottles each. If you were far enough up in line, you got one. Nobody was allowed to buy both rare bottles on the same trip through the line, and the line was long enough that you couldn't get back in line and have a shot at both. It was pick one or the other. Sam Cruz told us he preferred Cognac, so that's what I bought.

That means that each trip through the line, you can buy a variant pack, three regular, one rare, and probably three of whatever additional beer may be made available. None of these bottles will be sold at the bar. The bar will only be selling tap pours of who-knows-what.

You may go through the line as many times as you can until there is nothing left to sell.

That's good info, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

How many Bo & Luke variants would you expect on tap? If it's going to be so few bottles of the super rare variants, I may have better luck trying things at the bar since I'm not going to want to stand in line for a really long time. I'll probably wait out the line at the bar, then get my stuff when it's through the first time and if there's anything else to buy, then it's a bonus.

There were five variants on tap last year, best I can recall (Cognac, Vanilla, Date & Fig, Cherry Bitters, and one other). I don't think they had regular on tap, but I could be wrong.

If you see guys at the front of the line smoking cigars and/or wearing Country Boy swag, I'll be one of them.

Whoa, if they put a similar lineup on tap, there's no way I'm waiting in line. And you said those go on the same time as the bottles get sold (5:00)? I think I'll get there a little early and stay inside.

Thanks again for the info. You've been most helpful. I'll say hi tomorrow.

I wanted to give everyone a heads up. I just called the brewry to verify and they said if you have a pre-sale ticket they start handing out those bottles at 4:00.

Cool. Wonder what that's gonna do to the special bottles, or if that means no special bottles.

The only ways this works is if there's no special bottles, or the pre-sale is variants and regular only, no repeat trips. Otherwise I sense a riot.

Maybe the special single variants = just the one being sold Sunday, and any other non-four pack variants will be draft only.

Either way, there are already people in line (although is it the 4:00 or 5:00 line?) so I am not worried about being able to get the single variant bottles, if they're happening.

If you call the brewry they are being pretty open about the release. Except they still aren't saying what the variants are this year. What I have gotten from calling
    1. 2 lines. One for 4:00 pre-sales and one for 5:00
    2. 3 bottles of regular are available to everyone. No rares this year. Unless the 25th party.
    3. They are tapping regular Bo and Luke 2014 and 2015, and 70k. No variant taps it looks like.
But I would say if you fellas have any more questions about the release just ask them instead of guessing.

Looks like I dodged a bullet not getting the variants this year. Yikes @ those flavors.
