Yesterday was quite cool, so it was a good day for this. Modist Gifts of the Sacred Father doppelbock

Very good, and dangerously smooth for 8.5%

Schell's Bock (6.1%): A German Bock from Minnesota with flavors of nuts, caramel, smooth German malts that give hints of dark banana bread.

    Cross-post in WBAYD:
This is an excellent German beer, and may be the best bock I’ve had, although I'm no bock expert. Was surprised to Schell's ranked #29 on US craft brewery production. Guess they know how to do beer. This one has perfect flavors of nuts, caramel, and dark banana bread. It is excellent.

Another one from Red Oak. This time it's their 1516 Heller Bock. Drink by date of August 2. It's the #2 rated Maibock on BA which surprised me. Being only familiar with Maibocks like Dead Guy that I never liked I was a bit apprehensive about this one, especially at $16 for a 6-pack, but it far exceeded my expectations. A nice smooth caramel flavor with a hint of malty and a little sweet but far from cloying. Very well balanced and drinkable at 7%.

Record Store Day bock post. This is a solid beer, brewed and served a turkey ride from my house.

It was a nice Spring Day here in PA today, although getting a little chilly tonight. Enjoying a Celebrator.

Had these a while back and forgot to post. I simply like Andygator. I was talking to one of their reps once, and he said Andygator was a Belgian blonde. He probably would be better off with a bit more product familiarity. The subtlety of Mardi Gras Bock makes it feel more like an import from a big brewer than a modern craft beer (I mean that as a compliment). Abita's range makes me feel like they are under-appreciated here given how much people on BA complain about things like the lack of brown ales and brewers getting rid of beers. Looking at their website, their product range includes many of the hallmarks of modern craft (there sure seems to be a lot of fruit beer/beverages in their portfolio), but they still have an "amber lager," bock, brown ale, etc.

Went to the Bock/lager festival at Plattduetsche Park on Long Island yesterday. It featured New York brewers. I had small pours of roughly a half dozen Maibocks, a half dozen miscellaneous Bocks (Doppel, Weizen, etc.), and a half dozen standard strength lagers. The brewer I ended up enjoying the most was Gentle Giant. Granted having beer this way is about as bad as you can get when it comes to getting a good impression of something… and I ended up favoring the brewers I tried at the beginning of the fest rather than the end. @TongoRad - their Dino lager is their take on “American lager” and features corn.

    Looks like fun!

I love that beer (surprisingly robust for the style), and whatever else I've had from Gentle Giant. The brewery isn't too far from me.

I knew nothing about them when I tried their beers at the fest, so I had no preconceived ideas. When home, I looked up their location, thought of you, and saw your posts in the regional forum after a search. Try their Zwickelbier or Maibock if you see them.

    Revolution Baphomet Bock. Reviewed here.

Short version: very good and the best lager I've had from Rev so far. I half-expected this to be a Black IPA, but it was very smooth -- except for being a little hot with alcohol.

    Lift Bridge Maibock.

Not bad, but could use more malty sweetness for my tastes--especially given it's 7.7% strength.

My first time having this; Someone suggested i do it and i did.
Not loving it, but not hating it either.
It has potential to become a fridge staple .
    Price+ABV+Availability make this a winner.

Because May is still Bock season, not gonna give up on this thread just yet. Couple new local Maibocks over the weekend that were quite tasty. Reviewed this one already.
