Boil Gravity in IBU Calculation

    IBU calculations ask for a boil gravity at the time when hops are put in. When doing these calculations, do you always use the boil gravity at the start of the boil, or do you try to adjust the gravity based on the timing of the hop addition? For example, when brewing a 5 gallon batch, there could be nearly a gallon of volume difference in the wort between a 60-minute hop addition versus a 5-minute hop addition. Do y'all typically try to adjust your calculation accordingly?

    The original Tinseth IBU data/calculation used the Average Gravity during the boil, not the starting gravity. Some Tinseth calculators ignore that fact and just use the pre-boil OG.

    @VikeMan what does BrewCipher do? In reply to OP, I just follow what BrewCipher reports.

    BrewCipher uses average gravity during the boil.
